Current County and Unitary Authority Tops

The map and list depict the current administrative counties and Unitary Authorities, and their highest points above sea level.  These are the areas which were formed by the administrative changes which started in the late 1990's.

Though the traditional historic counties and their boundaries still exist, local government administrative changes have been largely adopted by map-makers and in road-signage.

The Isle of Man is a self-governing British Crown Dependency rather than a county, but has been included in the list.

Some of the tops on this page are real oddities, and may seem a bit pointless in some of the low-lying counties, and especially in the metropolitan areas.  This website also includes pages for the London Borough Tops, Historic County Tops, and for the Administrative (1974-1996) County Tops.
