This is a website for hill walkers and summit-baggers, attempting to provide accurate Ordnance Survey grid references for the 3000ft mountain tops, and prominent lower hills, of Scotland.

There are many recognised lists of hills and mountains in Scotland - most of the main lists are covered by this website, as well as a list of county tops.  Click on the appropriate link on the adjacent map.

The site shares much of its data with the Database of British Hills, and could be considered to be a web-based version of the database.

You can use this website to log your own progress against these lists - simply register a Username and Password (free), and follow the instructions on the registry page.

You will also find a mountain search facility, and downloadable files for each mountain area containing GPS waypoints for the summits.

What's New - recent changes to this website
2nd Jan 2010Summit Feature field added to hill logging form - if you enter a grid reference and a description of the summit feature you recorded, these can be used to improve the accuracy of the Database (DoBH).
31st Dec 2009Triangle colours brighter and magenta replaced with blue, to improve contrast for colour-blind users (you may need to clear your browser cache to see the changes).
20th Nov 2009Multiple updates to align the data with version 11.2 of the Database of British Hills (DoBH).
28th Sep 2009Sgurr nan Ceannaichean demoted from Munro list following detailed survey revealing height is below 3000ft.  Hill now joins the Corbett and sub-Murdo lists.
28th Sep 2009Loch Hill, Hill of Colvadale, Northballo Hill, Barskeoch Hill, Sgor Gaibhre - Meall a'Bhealaich and Mounthuillie all demoted from HuMPs list as they have less than 100m drop/reascent.
24th Sep 2009New page of downloadable hill survey reports, provided by the Database of British Hills survey team (John Barnard, Graham Jackson, Myrddyn Phillips).
25th Aug 2009New list of hills, the Trail 100, added to the website.  This is a list of 100 popular hills in England, Wales, Scotland, and one in Northern Ireland.  There are 3 hills which do not appear on any other list
5th Aug 2009Major changes to align the data with the Database of British Hills (DoBH)...
Grid references and summit descriptions taken from DoBH where available (indicated by (h) after grid ref), though my own estimated grid references have been retained otherwise;
Abbreviations for hill lists changed to match DoBH (see Glossary page), column renamed from Type to Class;
DoBH hill numbers shown on list and mountain detail pages (GPSID no longer shown, but can be derived as SC followed by hill number);
Drop (prominence), col grid ref, OS map sheet numbers and additional comments and observations added to mountain detail pages;
Ability to search on Drop (prominence) added to Mountain Search page;
Donalds and Donald Tops now featured in preference to the New Donalds.
9th Jun 2009Creag na Criche promoted to the full Marilyn status as a result of accurate survey by J Barnard, G Jackson and M Phillips - reascent is just under 151m.
13th May 2009Newly identified HuMP, Garwall Hill has been added (potentially also a sub-Marilyn).
4th May 2009Reference numbers for the hills (you may have noticed the "rf=" parameter in the webpage address for the mountain details pages) have been changed to match hill numbers in The Database of British Hills.
I have joined the editorial team for the Database of British Hills, and will be making further changes to the Hill-Bagging database over the coming weeks so the two databases are consistent.
