Cerrig Gwaun-y-llan > Llechwedd Ddu (Carnbwlchcloddiau) from GR: SN 85497 78351. Cerrig Gwaun-y-llan is a brute and then (Carnbwlchcloddiau) one of the easiest Dewey's.ronaldo33323/09/2023
From parking area just west of bend to SW. up BW but soon got confused by ATV tracks better than BW. Into forest on BW at fence corner and up to track. Esgair Ganol first, back via Cistfaen down firebreak and from fence corner struggled up through thigh high grass. Returned same way. My 200th Dodd.PeterD19/07/2023
Probably should have taken advice and done in winter.davefh03/07/2023
A circuit of the Deweys and subs from the high level minor road going through the forest to the south west of Llangurig. Did Bryn Du first from the end of the public road at the Afon Diliw (843 773). Used the rally course road west, crossing the river, past the quarry, and just round the bend, where a ride takes one to the end of the summit ride on the left (fallen trees – but easy passage alongside through open wood). After return to the car drove the mile or so to the cattle grid (855 783). The road to mast gives quick and easy access to Llechwedd Ddu and its trig. Then for the man eating grass crossing to Cerrig Gwan y llan! Tough but made easier if the random trods are followed and one keeps to the shorter, drier areas shown by the browner patches. After bagging the Dewey, not much further to Cistfaen (s5) by going to the corner of the fence, up the ride to the crossroads, with the summit a short distance along the ride on the left. A total distance of 14km (excluding the shsilveracorn_alan31/07/2022
As PGCE. Up and down in 65 minutes. The dead tussocky grass is marginally better for walking than the heather and moss. Bit of a trod next to the fence helps.Campbell Singer10/11/2021
From the cattle grid car park at 855783. A 30 minute wade through long grass; no better on the return. Not very enjoyable!PGCE23/07/2021
From Llangurig for a round of Esgair Ganol, Cerrig Gwaun-y-llan, Llechwedd Ddu and Bryn Du.rhalstead06/09/2020
from cattle grid 854783 sheepless terrain no trods very hard then on to Cistfaenunderhill23/07/2020
Parked as most others by the cattle grid at 855783 and took the most direst route over rough pasture and very deep grass but at least it was dry, all in an hour and a half for the mile and a half to and from the summit.WAYNE ROWLETT08/09/2019
Parked by cattle grid at 855783 - Over gate & headed down to col, crossing a barbed wire fence on the way - From the col, a tussocky climb to the unmarked summit. Fairly easy to pick out trods between the tussocks of dead grass, so winter possibly best time of year to make an ascent. (PM)gerrybowes24/01/2018
A good idea to do this during winter as the grass is short. Could be a nightmare otherwise. From the cattle grid car park at 855783. With GB for this under 1 hour return.bolton24/01/2018
Dreadful man-eating grass between the forest and the summit.clivevilla15/07/2017
Walked up from the little car park at the head of Cwm Ystwyth. Up to Cerrig Gwaun-y-llan first via Cistfaen and some forest rides, then back and through the forest to Esgair Ganol and back down the same way.Neolith01/07/2017
Continuation of walk from Llechwedd Ddu. From the lane, entered field through gate and descended steeply to a col. Then a very heavy-going grass-thrash to the summit plateau. To return, tried to keep to higher drier ground nearer the forest edge, but not much better. An ascent to give a whole body work-out! With AW.Man of Kernow107/08/2016

After 3483. Direct route looked quite easy. Nightmare. Most of it like walking in foot deep powder snow. Grass sometimes even up to waist. Every step hard work pretty much all the way. Not recommended.destaylor11/07/2014
After Cistfaen, but around west edge of trees and more bogs. hate bogs.dicky15/06/2014
From Neuadd-ddu across the suspension bridge and up via Brithdir taking in five Deweys in a north to south loop. Glorious walking weather with blue sky and breeze on tops. Not a soul seen all day except in the valley.SS17/05/2014
Traversed, along with 4 other Deweys, on walk from Glangwy Farm Campsite to Pont ar Elan.Chris Peart26/02/2014
Start~ 855783, followed the high ground to the east before following fence south to the unmarked summit. In thick cloud all of the walk.steve hudson16/11/2012
