Parked in lay-by south of Ledard, up path then off to do the two tops on Creag a Bhealaich before rejoining main path and then off left to Ben Venue cairn and my 1000th Hump. On to east top before going Back via Beinn Bhreac and Beinn Chochan. Great views on clear day | PeterD | 04/06/2023 |
DRC walk from Leannach. Stayed dry despite the forecasts although not much view from the top. | TRG318 | 07/05/2023 |
Dismal day from Ledard farm. Drizzle and low cloud. Everything was in spate. | Jhimmy | 18/03/2023 |
Ben Venue from Loch Achray. Walkhighlands route | hummusg | 01/03/2023 |
From Loch Achray pay parking. Followed waymarked paths. Cloud base at about 600m, lower on the way down, disappointing views. Damp, mild, not very windy. Surprisingly rocky from the 580m col to the summit. Would be a lovely hill in better conditions. Retraced steps most of the way but took a slightly shorter less undulating route via Loch Achray hotel grounds. With PJ, AJ, TH. | Owen B | 14/02/2023 |
Main path up and down from Ben Venue car park (Loch Achray). | RobB | 30/11/2022 |
SHC walk from Ledard Farm. Straightforward but wet and muddy underfoot most of the way. | TRG318 | 27/11/2022 |
Small carpark at start of Dam road. Up waymarked, stone path to east top and then over to west top. Back same way. Great views, set of to late to bag the nearby HuMPs. | Flatfield | 14/09/2022 |
From Loch Achray. Very windy at the top. Wet at times. | davidpettit84 | 29/12/2021 |
Perfect snowy, sunny conditions to test new micro spikes. | lordtonult | 05/12/2021 |
From Ledard via main path. On to trig summit, then down via Creag a' Bhealaich and tracks on southern flank to Altskeith. | quadbarrel | 13/06/2021 |
See main Ben Venue Log. Main top had 20 people on it, this I had to myself. Slightly better view of Loch Katrine. | Victor | 29/05/2021 |
Directly up off piste from dam to N through trees – vegetated scramble at times. Then found fence and path near top. Clagged over, raining, windy. Down trade route. | Rounsfell | 09/05/2021 |
From Ledard, along track towards Ben Venue, turned off onto old track from near NN457050, and followed that up the flank of Creag a' Bhealaich to a high point, then headed straight up slopes to Stob an Lochain, descended roughly N to rejoin the Ben Venue track, followed that up to main summit, returned along track to its point point, then NW up slopes to Beinn Bhreac, continuing to Beinn Chochan, descended E towards valley of Ledard Burn, crossing it where several tributaries meet, rejoining the main track and returned to Ledard | kdbennett | 23/04/2021 |
From Ledaig Farm. Natural forest of oak and birch, early wildflowers - primrose, celandine. Chaffinch, Meadow Pipits, Buzzard, Barnacle Geese on farm field. Out of forest across moor to final short climb up to summit. Perfect day, lots of folk near summit. Did not visit lower peak. Return same way. Quite a walk for a Graham. | Trotticus | 15/04/2021 |
Path from Loch Achray. | thekirkie pirate | 31/03/2021 |
SHC walk from Ben Venue CP beside Loch Achray using the usual route. | TRG318 | 28/11/2020 |
Climbed and camped on evening submitted then descent in the morning. Easy to follow Route. However route and car park were busy in the morning even at 9-10 am. | Kai korzonek | 25/09/2020 |
From Loch Achray on a clear morning. | Windy Corner | 19/09/2020 |
Hiked as part of a Ochils Mountaineering Club day meet, I meet Tom Lockie and David Hills at castleview park and ride, Tom drove to the Ben Venue car park, via Aberfoyle as the Callander road was closed due to flooding.
We hiked up and down in 04:55hrs, very windy on top, with hail making it unpleasant at times. Some cracking view of the forth valley and Loch Katrine. | chillyman8 | 23/02/2020 |
Solo on a sunny morning - icy patches and cold which kept the boggy parts frozen. | mproudfoot | 28/10/2019 |
With Dave Roeder and family for his last Graham. From big layby at Ledard (11:10) followed path through woods to open country to col, then along side of ridge to join main path from N at a large cairn. Thence rocky climb to summit and on to trig point before returning. Very hot day; pleasant breeze high up but opressive in valley. Some swimmers on way down. Finished 18:00. Sklow progress but very pleasant company in party of about 10 | dbb | 25/08/2019 |
Parked at road to Katrine dam (13:00) and followed signposted path up Gleann Riabhach, corkscrewing round hill and finally steeply to top, just in cloud. On to 2nd top then back same route. Route from S shorter and better. Finish 17:05 | dbb | 29/03/2019 |
I was amazed at the number of people up here on a Sunday in February. No need to use a map, just follow the sign posts and Sunday walkers! Interestingly not many people head for the summit and just visit the trig point on the E Top! Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 24/02/2019 |
From Ben Aan carpark up via Loch Achray Hotel and back via Loch Katrine road | Danmawr | 02/02/2019 |
Group walk with the Munro Meanderers via the standard route from Loch Achray. Cold, frosty and icey but a great walk with good views. Did both summits then returned the same way. | Chris Mac | 02/01/2019 |

Dry but cold on top. Easy ascent via the main path from car park at Loch Achray. | Roblex | 22/06/2018 |
From Ben Venue car park more or less as per Andrew Dempster's route. Perfect May morning, blue skies, almost too hot! Excellent views. Did East top and then descent down steepish ground to sluice. | MichaelF | 17/05/2018 |
Ben Venue and East Top from Ben Venue car park. Sunlit walk through birches and forestry, then deep snow above the 450m level. Clear skies alternating with mini-whiteouts as the Pest from the West added to the snow brought by the Beast from the East. Followed the ridgeline from the East Top to rejoin the hill path by the plantation fence. | Nick Down1 | 09/03/2018 |
Walked via Loch Ard, climbed summit (cairn and rock next to it) but never had time for the East Top with Trig Point. Amazing views all round but expecially of the Crianlarich Munros. | Chris Mac | 17/07/2017 |
From Ledard. | ngthack | 14/05/2017 |
As per Walkhighlands, from Loch Achray. | TRG318 | 30/04/2017 |

With Kevin W from Kinlochard. | duchally | 14/05/2016 |
Solo. From Ledard, Loch Ard. Ascended up path to Ben Venue East Top. From East Top on path to main summit of Ben Venue. Duly stood on rock 25m E of cairn, which is the highest point. There is a single stone on the top of the rock – does this constitute a cairn? Continued on path to rejoin ascent route for the descent. | pwbellarby | 13/05/2016 |
Via path from P at NN505068. Then to Ben Venue East Top. | summitsup | 18/04/2016 |
Up from the hotel at Kinlochard with my boys. Quite boggy, but it stayed mainly dry. | Alan | 08/04/2016 |
Solo | HFB | 14/02/2016 |
Deep snow. Excellent views on the way up.
Freezing cloud cover at the summit. Really good walk. | Stevend1 | 16/01/2016 |

Final Graham, at mercy of winter weather. Rain, sleet, first deep deep snow of the winter and blowing spindrift. Even the sun appeared. | N.Morters | 29/11/2015 |
With Anne-Marie. Usual ascent from car park at Loch Achray. Dry and bright, some cloud. Boggy parts in places. My elderly Tourist 1 inch OS map indicated a path descending east to Loch Katrine, so we headed off. However, I will gloss over the details of the actual descent to save further embarrassment. An encounter with a swarm of midges at the end was the final icing on the cake. | Glengavel | 08/08/2015 |
With Kevin W from Loch Achray. | duchally | 08/02/2015 |
From new car park near Loch Achray hotel. Normal route to just above tree line then up onto South ridge to avoid deep snow on rest of normal route. Main summit plus all intervening tops. returned by dropping quickly down ointo normal rote - a mistake snow was soft, deep and hard going. | dickscroop | 22/01/2015 |
With Sarah, glorious day with plenty of snow arouns and a cloud inversion that lasted all day. Came up from the Loch Achray side, which now has a good carpark and a well-signposted path. Coming down we thought we'd found a shortest path down to the treeline on the east of the hill, but it didn't work out and the route through the forest wasn't the best. | Colinmac2005 | 29/12/2014 |
From Loch Achray Hotel. A day of high wind and sleet/snow ascended by a route of pure purgatory because i had some perverse wish to do the broad south ridge. This entailed battling through a swathe of felled trees and new plantations. Nobody else on the hill and only a few prints in the snow. Both summits visited. i descended the north-east aspect through steep gullies of soft snow and finally a steep slope of birch trees. There are simpler ways to do the hill, i suppose. | thenomad | 20/02/2014 |
A run up with KM and EF on a scorcher of a day before a great night out in Callander. | GravelMonkey | 20/07/2013 |

From the Loch Katrine car park | BLACKHILL | 02/11/2011 |
Deleted 1992 ascent, did not reach summit. Left car at 500068 and walked up private road to and over Katrine dam. Followed path NW to Bealach nam Bo (481074), then ascended north face. A more direct return route became a bracken thrash. | Topographer57 | 31/08/2011 |
Veryhappybunny | 23/07/2011 | |
Climbed with Jenx on birthday. From hotel at NN459022, lovely track through birch woods. Snowy conditions, up to col at 462056 and then knolls to summit rocks | nordicstar | 10/03/2011 |

From Loch Achray Hotel. Great walk with 3 bros & neph, spoiled when we tried to descend NE direct to hotel without a map. Slopes got steeper, slabbier & slippier forcing us back up. Last part of improvised descent in dark, thru felled forest. A lesson! | AndyBlair1972 | 16/10/2004 |

Estimated date. Done as part of the Challengers Trophy, effectively a team orienteering competition. This stage involved estimating time for ascent from the hotel on N side of Loch Ard & descent to the finish at the hotel at Loch Achray. No bonus for beating your estimate but penalties for every minute you exceeded it by. The overriding memory was of the stink of one of the very early energy drinks provided free by the sponsors... We finished inside our estimated time & moved up the leaderboard! | NotReallyABagger | 25/05/1990 |

I climbed this with a friend around 2008. I can't remember how long it took or the sequence. They were not used to climbing those sorts of hills and got scared at the top. They moaned all the way there and most of the way down. Never climbed another hill with them again. No longer pals! LOL. | Baggin\' Annie | blank |
