Abandoned route from Meall a' Chaorainn yesterday so used track from Mullach Chonnachair to new bridge and beyond. Much easier route despite long uphill trudge back to car.lordtonult23/09/2023
Drive in no longer possible - locked gate. Parked in layby on unmapped track NC 3291 0627. Mapped tracks to NC 3244937 where fork left to reach bridge. Over and right on more overgrown track (NC 3199 0358) - runs parallel to Allt Coire Ruchain. At NC 3101 0398 keep right (slightly downhill), very soon bearing left on overgrown indistinct atv - crosses a stream on makeshift fence post bridge. Follow atv soon to pass prominent post on horizon (look half right) at NC 3075 0398. Atv then winds its way to deer gate at NC 3031 0396. Thru' and over An Tulachan ridge - atv indistinct in parts - and onto top. Lovely walkcarole engel09/09/2023
Another route. From Craggie, parking NE side of road down forest track (small parking area). On track, first left, right at Y junction and then right as if to go to quarry. Almost immediately left down to river and new bridge. Then carry on to turning area. Wet track out of this almost to the edge of An Tulachan. Wet everywhere but this is at least almost devoid of tussocks. Down to where burn and tributary split. About 200 yards west of the split a wet track goes up the hill all the way (minimal tussocks).iangalbraith28/02/2023
Parked on track to Craggie then walked to Meall an Fhuarain over 2 tump summits. Lots of forestry operstion chopping 20 yr old tress into mulch. Hard going occasional quad trackcjo22/09/2022
along with Meall O- drove to quarry, took a made up track which dropped to burn ( leap across) an dthen pick up another made up track which goes diagonally upwards. eventually this peters out - follow muddy wet atv tracks to fence ( gate), follow atv track to summit or pick your way thro peat hags to minor top.on return- we followed another atv tracks from gate- following pink makers . we went on a sunday so no timber traffic..VerySlowPlodder09/05/2021
My 76 Birthday trip.FLS is nearing clear felling whole area and most has been replanted. Walked from Craggie over Meall an Lochain and down to forest road which I think has been extended. Across to old ATV track which passes south of a small remnant of trees and up and through deer fence gate, and on the ATV track all the way to the summit. Spectacular mountain views 360. Back to forest road and out that way. 240 mins trip. One can save time by cycling past quarry or if Sat or Sun by driving to quarry, road is very good.Coinneach07/11/2020
A gruesome experience. Started from Craggie, walked along the forest road to the quarry. Driving not advised, there is lots of work in the forestry. An old logging track goes down to the river but the bridge is not there any more. Through brash onto the logging track above, more brash to join the old ATV track alongside the stream. Track seems to be disused, blocked with old brash at a couple of places, horribly overgrown and a quagmire in numerous places. Squelchy route marked by posts over An Tulachan to the gate. Too hard to undo the knot so climbed over. More squelch down to the stream and up the other side. Left the track to walk on easier grass, a dull trudge, with hag- and tussock-dodging in places. The summit area is nice though, short grass and good views. Assuming N. Morters' bridge is the one on a new logging track before the quarry but track ends in acres of brash.Gill25/09/2020
Biked in from Knock Craggie as others. After heavy morning rain the hill was very wet underfoot. No summit views due to low cloud and a stiff westerly breeze delivering wetting drizzle. Coffee in the shelter of the trig.NormanW25/07/2020
Parked at the Craggie track/Loch Craggie. Woods felled, followed tracks round Meall an Lochan. New track drops over a shiny metal bridge to the end of An Tulachan ridge. Lots of AV tracks, a little soggy up the ridge to meet the deer fence. Through the gate and then followed the AV track down and up into the cloudy summit. Returned with slight variation off An Tulachan to pick up the older track back to car.N.Morters23/11/2019
4 of 7: From Meall a Bhuirich.ChrisR26/05/2018
Nice warm evening. Per Nordicstar, but cycled from A837 to 313041 in deference to lockable barriers. If you get to the end of the main forestry track, you have gone too far. The wet and grassy track that starts at 31351 04129 goes all the way to the summit, where the ground and terrain are smooth enough for a cricket field.Topographer5702/09/2017
Parked at small quarry at Nc313041. Really good forest roads to that point. Quick early evening ascent with Liz. Great views particularly westwards.Campbell Singer30/04/2017
Jim F's description was very useful and made for a good route if a little wet. Nice views.jenx23/07/2016
From tthe NE and A837 as described by Jim F. No long walk in from Duag bridge. Our shorter line took just 2.25 hrs there and back (sorry Michael 😉). The CP is on rhe unlocked forestry road at GR31461 04102. Down to a bridge at GR31426 03979. A short rough section through felled forest using a newish track to gain the old quad track that can be followed to near the summit of the Marilyn. Bit wet in places but fast. For accuracy if needed the deer fence gate that the track uses is at GR30305 03957.nordicstar23/07/2016
From Duag Bridge - good path up the Rappach Water once through the new forest plantation - boggy plod thereafter.Chris Peart15/06/2016
Parked on the A837 at the start of the forest road, went over 9308 Meall an Lochain, to the deer fence gate at NC303039. There was a grassy/muddy vehicle track wihich didn't look to be going the right way but from the summit it was easily followed to the forest road at NC313041 where you can park.Jim.Fothergill24/04/2016
Bagged with Tricky Speirs, Alex Cameron and Richard Tibbetts with Martin Richardson finally catching us up when we were half way back to the car. Great views from the top.Dugswell208/06/2014
Boggy from Duag bridge.Martin R08/06/2014
Exceptional views rewarded all effort upon reaching the top.Alex C08/06/2014
Extended plod from Duag Bridge in mist and light drizzle.jimbloomer09/05/2014
one of the very best viewpoints for a panorama of the Assynt hills. Also my most remote and most northerly trig pillar top art plaster cast!!vegibagger26/06/2013
Parked at Duag Bridge and followed fair path to Rappaig. Tedious plod to summit from there. Almost 5 hours for the round trip. Creag Loisgte to follow from the same parking spot.mae20/05/2013
Started at NC 32884 05161 and walked along the forest tracks to 31176 04315. Picked my way through the trees in a WSW direction and when onto open ground headed for the gate in the fence at 30311 03943. The easiest way over the rough ground was to follow the line of the vehicle tracks over the shoulder of An Tulachan and on to the summit. Returned by the same route. Not a cloud in the sky, frozen ground, a sprinkling of snow on top, and stunning views.martin_hall25/02/2013
From Cnoc Damh which involved crossing Rappach Water. Camped on northwest slopes.Alan Moore02/06/2011
Revisit date. First date not recorded. knoll to E higher than trig base. from NE, see trig RHW29/05/2011
Parked at roadside near Lubcroy. On road to a gate, on a faint path by stream to a new deer fence. Clambered over - why don't they spend an extra tenner on a stile to avoid the damage that will inevitably occur? Bridge over stream on map had gone. Walked across on stone getting mildly wet feet. On the babk past woodland steeply uphill over dry gentle moor. Steady progress to a large bealach to cross before the final ridge. 700' climb over more than a mile. At the top, white stones appeared showing the way a buggy should follow. To the trig 7932 at 12.00. 2 solitary deer. Lookout cairn 300m away was lower but had better views. Quiet. 6 hrs. to car.arranc31/05/2009
