| Tourist track from the Old Man CP. Very misty start so contoured over to Hartaval initially before taking on The Storr. Thankfully the mist burned off and sunshine gave us a visible summit and easy clamber over to the E Top. Decided to head southwards, bagging The Storr South Top en route to Ben Dearg, A' Chorra-bheinn and Pein a' Chleibh. A great walk in perfect conditions only spoiled by the trudge back up the A855 dodging fast cars, wide motorhomes and dirty haulage trucks. | Free (popular) waterfall CP - NG 4953 5098. Up LH side waterfall to pick up trod NG 49323 51006. Eventually see atv up hill thru' heather - aim for that - approx. NG 489 513. Up and thru' gate - path all the way and continues to base of top. Exciting route - animal path under crags (very visible) with three sections of nerve-wracking steep scree followed by vertical grass. | From the Storr Lochs/waterfall car park. Easy ATV track from above the waterfall, crosses the moor, a little boggy, then goes up a heathery rib and along a grassy shelf, through a gate, to Bealach Mor. A bit of up and down. Injured knee precludes steep ground on direct route, so I traversed right on grass to join a very good path crossing a firm, micro-scree slope, then up a big patch of firm scree towards a rock outcrop, then to the top on easy grass above the cliffs. Too nice not to wander around the coire looking down at the landslips and across the Minch and NW Skye; rewarded with a double halo Brocken spectre. Far too nice not to go back the same way, the views are superb and who can resist an easy stroll? Found that the good scree path continues close below the cliffs in grass and firm scree, giving an easy return. | Gill | 04/10/2021 |

| Parked by the waterfall, across the bog for a bit, up onto the nicely angled green bealach track then along the ridge and straight up the grassy gully directly to the summit (from a distance looked pretty steep and looked I would go more to the right and up the ridge, but when I got there it was steep but lovely and grassy to pick a route up). For the descent followed the fence from the summit along the ridge to the boggier Tump of A Chorha Bheinn. From a Chorha Bheinn headed East and traversed above the cliffs then down the ridge below the 306m spot height heading NE towards the road, then down to the road just before Storr Lochs Lodge. then 1.5mile s up the road. 5.5 mile circuit. | From the high point on the A855, just S of Loch Fada at a gate protected by a telegraph pole lodged between rocks. Up snow covered deep grass to a taught BWF - missed having my snowshoes, not for the snow, but to perhaps get some flotation on the deep grass. Followed this BWF W, taking advantage of a faint animal track, then upper BW strand was missing - but no point crossing because the fence continues over the rounded ridge to a T-junction with a small stile, over this, then along the next BWF N, until near the col below A Chorra-bheinn where an ATV track leads towards Ben Dearg. | Ascent from Storr Loch waterfall cp via Bealach Mor. I'd spent the morning watching Sea Eagles on a boat trip from Portree, now at corrie below Ben Dearg, I was within 100 m of a juvenile Golden Eagle. The ascent, by the fence, was on extremely steep ground- a bit of a surprise. Cloud had blown on to the top, but breaks allowed a different descent to be plotted visually, SE Top, S ridge then double back to a fence (if a break in it is repaired it will be awkward to cross) to an area of hummocks with pt. 340, E of the SE Top. These hummocks resembled the least eroded part of Fairy Glen and gave a pleasant, interesting way down with no road walking. | pwheeler | 13/06/2016 |
