After Dunside Hill and an uncomplicated road ride Parked uo near a quarry west of the top and walked up through the trees. Other than being steep, very easy. However it will not be long before this coupe gets the chop. Descent to the Tima Water bridge, but it was being replaced and I was not allowed on to the new one. Fortunately someone knew the area and told me that the Deephope bridge was still there. It was not in the best shape but it went. Being of a certain age, it was strange going towards Deephope - as one simply did not walk into Deephope in the 1990s. Back to Buccleuch on quiet roads via a cafe at a caravan site 1km south of Tushielaw (the pub was also open). | fasgadh | 21/09/2023 |
From Law Kneis, crossing new conifer plantation to point 426m. Firebreak to summit. Descended north down steep grassy firebreak to rejoin forest road back to the car park. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 04/07/2023 |
From Ettrick Marshes car park (NT 2799 1309). Good logging road until it crosses Gamescleuch Burn then veered off to follow mapped and unmapped breaks to Gamescluch Hill, after which Law Kneis. From there rough ground to the 426m spot height and then a reasonable break up to here. Dropped steeply down NW along a rough break to meet a forest road, crossed that to follow Gatecleuch Sike down to a break running parallel to Tima Water which leads back to car park - just a bit of forest to go though near the car park. | jonglew | 06/10/2021 |
From Tima CP forest tracks > steeply up through the trees to the top. | Andrew Simmons | 23/09/2021 |
P at bridge S of caravan park. Followed track N and then S. At the N end was a police incident. They were still there when I was coming back. Through the trees (steep and slippery). Came a bit above pt 426. Down then along the FB to the top. Took the long way back along tracks E then S of the hill. | chrisbien | 21/10/2020 |
Mountcommon Hill, Law Kneis and Gamescleuch Hill from the Tima bridge. Up forest track until turns right, around Gatecleuch Hill until due west of Mountcommon Hill. Went direct through forest but there is a fire break a little further on if you are more patient than me. The summit was open and allows a direct down and up over rough but open ground to Law Knees. Keeping the trees to your left it is then relatively straightforward to walk to Gamescleuch Hill - a narrow path through the long grass and brashings helps enormously. Just south east of the summit is an over-growing track that eventually leads back to the main forest road network. | summitter | 15/08/2019 |
Bagged by mistake on the way to Law Knasty. Don't ask. Took an old track up from approx. 286122, then took off up through the old trees on very easy and very steep ground to get to the firebreak along the ridge. Great fun. More than can be said for the pile of poo that constitutes the summit of Law Knasty. | Gill | 27/05/2018 |
From Tima car park, then on to Law Kneiss | Colin Crawford | 18/10/2017 |
From Law Kneis, descended steeply to col, then took fire break to summit. Descended steeply SW down a firebreak to the track. Followed this back to the car park. With JT. | Sprog | 24/06/2017 |
Law Kneis, Gamescleuch Hill & Mountcommon Hill from Tima Water CP. Easy from Law Kneis, steeply back down to track NW. | agentmancuso | 22/04/2017 |
Parked opposite convenient FB at NT 27779 13781. Visited after Kneis Law. Approach from NE is an easier ascent than steep descent from NW. | mntainman | 03/12/2015 |
