From the hotel, nice path above the east bank of Lawers burn, crosses to west bank at 450m and reaches hydro development at 600m. From here it become softer and less distinct. The unconstructed path up from Cat Lochan to Lawers-Stuc col is steep, slippery and worn out. SSW ridge on to summit is OK but my general impression was that a start point in Glen Lyon would have been better.Topographer5725/05/2023

Parked in the lay-by about 1/4 mile east of the hydro track. Followed the hydro to the small dam. From there headed up to the col between Meall Garbh and Meall Greigh. I did an out and back to the summit of Meall Greigh. It was a bit boggy and the summit was in the clag. Then up Meall Garbh to the summit cairn again in mist and quite windy although it was dry. I was slightly wary of the ascent up An Stuc but it was very easy. The hardest part was the descent to the Lochan as with all the rain it was extremely slippery so had to take it steady. In dry conditions it wouldn’t have been a problem. Path from Lochan to the small dam at the end of the hydro was very boggy. Time 7 hours 15 minutes for 17 miles.isabelle25/10/2022

Solo anti-clockwise round of Meall Greigh, Meall Garbh and An Stùc (how is that last one even a munro?) from Lawers Hotel. Arrived at the hotel early and popped the fee into the box, then set off down the road. The route up from the bone carver up through the forest and then up beside Lawers burn was quite pleasant, and a good warm up for the ascent up Sròn Mhòr and onto Meall Greigh. Took some sunrise photos and moved onto Meall Garbh - the re-ascent was fairly short - passed someone in a bivvy on the summit. Ascent up An Stuc wasn't as bad as it appeared - barely needed to use my hands, and the descent down the lochan also fine. Got back to the car a sweaty mess, but quite satisfied - total time 5h 17minmproudfoot11/07/2022

Parked at The Silage Pit at Ben Lawers Farm (not as bad as it sounds): £5 fee in honesty box. Up track beside Horn Carver, pleasant path to dam, off-piste north to ridge and along to Meall Garbh. Followed path along to An Stuc and Creag an Fhithich. The scramble up An Stuc was quite do-able for an oldie like me, on a fine day - wouldn't like to descend it poor conditions. Back to bealach and returned via south side of Lochan nan Cat to dam and ascent route.TRG31801/09/2021

A fine traverse of the Ben Lawers ridge from west to east, starting from the NTS car park. Visited Beinn Ghlas, Ben Lawers, Creag an Fhithich, An Stuc, Meall Garbh, and Meall Greigh. As I was solo with just the one vehicle, I had to return along the access road for the water intakes and then traverse across open country under Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas. 25km with 1600m of ascent in 9 hours. Meall Greigh, Meall Garbh and An Stuc. Parked at The Ben Lawers Hotel (£5 unless you buy a meal). Fantastic clear views at Meall Greigh but by the time I'd got to Meall Garbh it was cloudy and drizzly. Bit of a scramble up to An Stuc. It was still wet and cloudy by the time I got to Bealach Dubh so decided not to carry on to Ben Lawers. By the time I got down to Lochan nan Cat (down a very steep path) it was all clear up the top. 8 hours in total.tsharp16/09/2019

After much deliberation and route planning on the way down to the col from Meall Garbh we climbed up the path on OS mapping. Thankfully climbed in good conditions with dry rocks but with a heavy rucksack. However, still very steep with loose rocks and mud, not helped by recent small rockslide halfway up. Narrow ledges in places, walking poles stowed in favour of hands on rock.Canny26/07/2019

SMHC sunday walk with Alan & Lyndsay Munro & Emma Watson. Just over 11 miles for the circuit. The summits were mostly in cloud when we got to them but we did have views of every summit at some point during the day. Final summit of the day keeping the best to last. Nice scramble hands on stuff to the summit pleased we came up this way & not returning by the same route. Our descent was down the slope the best way possible round Lochan nan Cat, eventually pick up the access track for the hydro dam (small) Look out for the small marker cairn at the entrance to the path that will take you back to the start.LizzieG18/09/2016

With Meall Garbh and Meall Greigh. Biting cold wind, hail and snow. Fab views of Lawers corrie with snow sprinkling. Meall Garbh easy after slog up Meall Greigh. An Stuc much easier than it looks. Great day.Norman Reid04/05/2009

Backpacking w CMH. After camping around NN615426, did all Lawers range. Very strong winds; rain had started earlier and now continued all day, and we were walking largely in mist. This had been promoted to Munro in 1997 so it was good to do it, and with company in the grim conditions; a good peak!NorfolkPT2126/10/2007

Start ~ 667395, Ben Lawers? Hotel (With permission). Followed path up Lawers Burn before turning North for a direct ascent of Meall Greigh. Continued West along broad ridge to Meall Garbh. From there a steep descent to the Col and an even steeper ascent, avoiding the deep snow drifts to the summit of An Stuc. Another steep descent followed through the crags to Loch Nan Cat where we picked up the Lawers Burn to return. With Wombourne & Ron Oakley.steve hudson10/04/2004

From Camusvrachan with two friends. We followed track to Balnahanaid and up glen of Allt a’ Chobhair to shielings, then up Fin Glen. In the misty conditions climbed a gully on north side of An Stùc. After some hesitation, since we didn’t know whether it was possible to get up this way. There was soft snow on a hard base. Steps were mostly kicked, but a few were cut. There was a cornice to climb, not very high, but projecting out a long way. We ascended to the summit of An Stùc. The descent was via the NNW ridge, going down a long way before descending to Fin Glen to rejoin the route used in the outward direction.pwbellarby02/01/1994

With a friend. We left my car at NTS Visitor Centre on Ben Lawers and went in the other car to Lawers village. Walked up the path on the east and NE side of Lawers Burn. Climbed steeply up the SSE ridge of Meall Garbh. The summit ridge is a small semicircle. From the summit of Meall Garbh we continued to An Stuc, meeting a largish party at the bottom of the steep ascent to An Stuc. They warned of slippery and loose rock. It was misty and damp and this is how it continued until near the end of the walk. From An Stuc we continued to Creag an Fhithich, Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas before descending to the Visitor Centre.pwbellarby10/10/1993

Unlogged summit climbed while living / holidaying in Scotland between 1972 and 1987. This wasn't a Munro when I did the Lawers group but went over the top anyway on fine, sunny day from visitor centre to Lawers village.BURGESS31/08/1987
Round of 5 easterly Lawers hills with Shaky, Mr T. & SB on a blazing hot day. Found a small area (which no longer exists) near the Lawers hotel to reverse off the road. Then up the track by the Lawers Burn before sweating up the brutal grass slope to Meall Greigh. Then Meall Garbh, An Stuc, Lawers & Beinn Ghlas. Dropped SE to end of track running around the hillside before heading E to rejoin the ascent route at the top of the enclosed pastures. Dehydration was quickly cured later at the Drovers at Inverarnan.NotReallyABagger30/08/1987

Alone. From Invervar. After ascending Meall Greigh and Meall Garbh. I went on to An Stuc and Creag an Fhithich. The climb up An Stuc is very steep and loose. Continued to Ben Lawers, Beinn Ghlas, Meall Corranaich, Meall a’ Choire Leith and back to Invervar. Fine, becoming cloudy and windy. Some mist of Ben Lawers.pwbellarby31/08/1983

we parked in the grounds of a hotel on the northern side of Loch Tay, we climbed onto the ridge via a snow-filled gully above Lochan nan Car; the original plan was to meet Pete Scott, Graham Grant and others, including my brother before returning to the hostel; attempts to meet them entered the realms of fiasco when the hotel owner described someone fitting Graham Grant's description - they had never been there; Pete had led his party into Glen Lyon, ie North instead of South; we were reunited eventuallylangskill03/01/1972
