Up the RUPP from the north, as PeteF. Down the RoW and then over short cropped moorland.Moorponder12/10/2021
From SE, forest track is drivable in 4x4 but not my car. So walked up forest track to col and down tarmac the other side, before taking path off and then the heading directly to top. Not sure if tarmac road is accessible from north. Good views.PeterD18/06/2021
From the south east. Coming up the hill from the north by car would have shorter and easier but an enjoyable walk along the forestry track. Heather is quite short and easy going.Campbell Singer17/04/2021
With friends. Foel, vivod and pen tan y ctraig. Beautiful and peaceful Heathery Hill. Had a look in the sheltertumpawumpa28/12/2019

Parked end of public road to south, followed track through Ceiriog Forest. Track to S of summit marked on map is very indistinct, ROW better to follow, then across to pt 443 following strip of mowed heather, then N along faint path to crag immediately S of summit plateau. With Helen. Rained on return.PeteF16/02/2019
As marktrengrove. Parked on grass verge by junction at 168380 - NW along green lane for 2.75km to junction with bridleway at 147386 - Along bridleway, now a well-used vehicle track, before heading across heather & up S. slope to the unmarked summit. The small, easily missed shelter just 10m or so NE of summit is well worth a look. (S)gerrybowes03/01/2019
From N Berwyn Way while doing walk recce. Heather bashing to summit - great views to Eryri and Eglwyseg on a bright day.JohnIvor21/06/2018
After Vivod, rather heathery towards summit. The 'pile of stones' mentioned by stig_nest and Dazingdale is indeed a shelter (for a tiny person) complete with seat.Aye Jimmy14/04/2018

Pen Tan-y-graig and Vivod Mountain circular route from close to T-junction at S of Ceiriog Forest. Pleasant warm day.RobertP14/05/2017
A damp walk from the Owain GlynDwr Community hall, taking in Vivid Mountain as well, the day before Storm Doris hit.Shutterlag22/02/2017
Having failed to get my small engined front wheel drive car up the lane from Glyndyffrdwy on the poor road surface I decided to go from the Ceriog side. Rock track with many potholes but driveable. Summit is all heather. The pile of stones just below warrants a closer look.stig_nest16/05/2016
Followed fence south then south west to the north side of the forest (North Berwyn Way). Followed this west then turned north and followed tracks to fairly close to the summit. Long but pleasant hike through the foreat then lanes back to my car which was parked near Y Foel.clivevilla24/02/2016
Parked at the lane junction at SJ 16800 38043 - room for one car. Other parking spaces available nearby. Took the public access track (partially tarmac) WNW through the Ceiriog Forest, leaving it 200m beyond the forest edge onto the bridleway north over the moor. Then a bit of a heather stomp up past some fine crags on the south flank of the hill onto the summit plateau. Returned the same way. Late evening/gloaming walk/survey with MP.Man of Kernow118/09/2015
A reasonable straightforward approach from the forest to the south using established tracks.JohnStoneham15/06/2014
2nd summit of the Day on a walk from Llangollen to Llandrillo via Summits not yet climbed on N Berwyn Way. I used the open access land from Pen-y-vivod and traversed the steep slopes and took a bearing to gain the border between two wooded areas on the west side of the Afon Ro. I climbed two fences before climbing up the Dry streambed, over another fence, a stile and then under another fence to access the open hillside, Changing the bearing to gain the 450 m mark before heading directly to the heathery summit. There is a Shelter nearby. From the summit I took a route down to access the track heading into Ceiriog forest.Dazingdale04/05/2014

Heathery knoll, from knoll, track by stream then up bank, but NB tarmac road which starts E of a mapped chapel. Ascent from high road heathery but not too hard. Lovely late-evening view. RHW03/10/2010
