Within Sennybridge firing range (MoD). Do not approach when red flags are flying. See https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/sennybridge-firing-notice for firing times.webmasterblank
On a non firing day from the viewpoint car park, used military road to get to Pen Tri Chrugiau and then back to monument and SE on track initially before track became fainter as it headed up past shell casings and craters, tried my best to avoid boggy area and checked out a few possible HPs. On to the South top.PeterD19/02/2023
Cycled from the viewpoint to the east along the military road. Superb surface. Non firing day. Turned south at the monument and cycled a further km down good track. Then a plod across the moor. Loads of ordnance and old army vehicles lying around and plenty of shell holes, many recent. Continued to south top. Grey hills on a grey day.Campbell Singer04/02/2023
No firing at Sennybridge on Boxing Day so, as much of my planned route was on tarmac, I decided to do it as a run/walk - in shorts. Parked at 96337 46721 and ran out to Pen Tri Chrugiau. Turned round and a blizzard started. Luckily it had stopped by the time I got to the monument so I headed off and also bagged Twyd Rhyd Car and Twuyd Rhyd Car S. Top. Lots of unexploded shells about so I decided that the off road parts would be a walk! 10.5 miles.clivevilla26/12/2022
Using the Christmas shut down of the Ranges, I cycled back down to the top of the Garth road and used the perfect tarmac of the Range Perimeter road west, through thick mist to the monument. Turned left, following the rough track to its terminus (sooner than the map suggests). Then tricky navigation to highest hummocks amidst plentiful marshes. Some ordnance lying around. No obvious HP but I abandoned my bike around the summit to CB to the south top.Rob Rees27/12/2019
No cairn; grassy tussocks; indistinct HP determined by Abney. Extensive views of wild terrain.Denise 03/01/2019
From the S Top over rough sheep grazed pasture to another vague rise in levellish moorland. High point un-marked. Extensive but hazy views.RichardM03/01/2019
From Pen Tri Chrugiau with Adrian, Douglas, Alex and Tony J. On to the S Top before returning to cars parked at red kite viewng area. Range quiet; lots of military paraphernalis lying about. Walked over to SN 95225 43300, approx 450m SW; ground looked to be of equal height; GPS gave same elevation.jonglew30/12/2017
Parked at viewpoint car park then used RoW from B4519 towards Pen Tri Chrugiau but very little to follow and would have been better on the military road. Then long sensible way round to Twyn Rhyd-car and then to Twyn Rhyd-car South Top before return over damp moorland to Mynydd Epynt and then B4519.Dugswell230/12/2017
