Parked in layby by phonebox on A6 for a circuit of Borrowdale over 6 summits. 3/6PGCE18/11/2021
A 2nd visit with L. Calm and sunny 5hr walk from A6 layby after my 13 day virus lay up. Linked grassy S ridge tops - this one being a bit pointier than others with a steep final slope - then back along the beautiful Borrowdale -with the farm and meadows being a touch of paradise -utter calm as hidden by the folds of the hills and nature -chickens and rabbits nibbling the grass together. Wainwright thought this was the most beautiful valley outside of Lakeland -its now in Lakeland of course and the Friends of The Lake district have bought High Borrowdale and its hay meadows to preserve its cultural and natural beauty - a fine choice.Chris Pearson20/09/2021
From the A6 layby by the phone box on the A6, via the fine cairn with no name, to Ashtead Fell, Mabbim Crag and Castle Fell. Route down to Borrow beck from Castle Fell to the north west not recommendedRowanP12/09/2021

13.5 mile circular from A6 layby following good but boggy trail over Ashtead Fell, Mabbin Crag, Castle Fell, Whinfell Beacon, Grayrigg West Top (23m prominence) and Grayrigg. Then descending to valley and following easy grass trails across Winterscleugh, Whinash and pathless Pipers Hill back down to car. 1071m ascent. Sunny/breezy conditions with nice views. No one about. This hill lies slightly off the trail but is easy enough to gain with quite interesting little summit.DanTrig18/05/2021
