Bus from Kendal dropped me at Slack's Lane up narrow road to Castley Knotts, Brown Moor, traverse around Fell Head and onto Linghaw. Then down to tiny road (no traffic/no people) and walkout to Tebay picking up track alongside River Lune. Pint in pub and bus to Penrith for train back to Kendal. 10 milestrimarc214/10/2022
Solo. Off road parking under the 5th arch of Lowgill Viaduct (counting N to S). There’s other parking near the viaduct. Then over Crook of Lune Bridge, past Riddings and Beck House to Beck Houses Gate. Then, sort of, direct following an intermittent track to Brown Moor summit. After that, Castley Knotts and PF leading to Four Lane Ends to return to viaduct. A pleasant walk.ADT09/10/2022
Sedbergh, up through farmyard and diagonal path across face of Winder. On over Arant Haw, Calders, Bram Rigg top, The Calf, Bush How and Fell Head. Down south-west ridge, across to col and up to summit. Down over Castley Knotts and Lane back to Sedbergh. Seems like a lot of effort for one new tump. Good weather though.Flatfield06/08/2022

Walk up the ridge to the Calf, then continuation to Fell Head and down via Brown Moor. Plenty of rivers to cross on our way back to start! With B and R.jenx26/11/2020
Shown where to park on the bridleway after a local lady saw me dithering at the junction. Ascended in rain and cloud, which cleared on the descent. Castley Knotts is a better hill with some rocky outcrops - unusual for the Howgills.JohnW27/07/2020
From Tebay. Blease Fell, Uldale Head, Linghaw, Brown Moor, Fell Head, Bush Howe, The Calf. Return via Udale Beck and Waskew HeadRobertP12/07/2020

From Beck House (SD 6333 9666) with Rick Salter on his final Howgill hill. Farmer kindly allowed us to park on his land, and showed us round his camping pods - electric and running water! RoW up to Beck Houses Gate then took a direct line to the hill top.jonglew17/12/2018

Last one of a circuit of 4 summits today.bardolph09/01/2018
Descended the steep SW ridge of Fell Head, then traversed round to the col below Brown Moor. From there it was a simple walk to the top. From Brown Moor descended to Beck Houses Gate, then followed the RoW to Howgill Lane. A walk along the road took us to the car park on Fairmile Road. With JT and HT.Sprog17/09/2017

About now we got our first view of the day as we walked from West top. Now thinking almost there and wine calling!SarahS11/03/2017
First summit of the day with a view. A circular route from Gate Side heading N over The Calf to Hazelgill Knott then back S from Simon's Seat over Fell Head with lunch in the excellent and remote Langdale Valley. Sadly a day mainly in the cloud but mild with no wind. Down over the pleasent Castley Knotts.RichardM11/03/2017
last summit of misty day before muddy descent to Gateside farmhouse ( self catering). Tiny cairn but HP a few m away.Denise 11/03/2017
Ninth hill of 10 planned on a circular walk in the Howgill Fells accompanied by Sarah, Richard, Denise and 6 of their Brolly Club friends. Weather conditions dominated by thick low cloud. After Brown Moor we walked across to Castley Knotts our tenth and final hill for the day before returning to our luxury holiday cottage. Gateside Cottage is superb and highly recommended. It housed our party of 9 with our 5 cars easily.Bernard11/03/2017
From Joss Lane Car Park, Sedbergh (SD 65916 92184) - Winder - Arant How - Calders - Bram Rigg Top - The Calf - Bush Howe - Fell Head - Linghaw - Brown Moor. Long road walk back to Sedbergh.david23020113/10/2016

With Jo, from same parking area as Dangerous Dave: along bridleway over Castley Knotts to Brown Moor, then contoured fell to where fp crosses Blind Gill and onto Linghaw. Returned along fp to near Beck Houses Gate, then along wall beneath Castley Knotts to bw back to car. Weather; generally sunny with light breeze, good visibility though cloud covered Lake District tops by the time we got to Linghaw.amblerbob09/10/2016

Wide parking area on the bend in the road, west of Four Lane Ends. Nice walk along the bridleway and up over Castley Knotts (361m). With Clare, Eire, Evan, Coel & Alfie.Dangerous Dave19/06/2016
Took three goes to reach Sedbergh from Kirkby Lonsdale in the aftermath of Storm Desmond (one road flooded, one with collapsed culvert and huge hole). Done from crossroads near Hugill, lane and soggy hillside. Returned over Castley Knotts, a much better hill even in a downpour.Aye Jimmy10/12/2015
From Four Lane Ends where 1 car can park.jimbloomer21/08/2015
Rather naughtily squeezed my car into a slight widening of the road 100m north of the entrance to Beck House. Managed not to block the road and was only there for an hour! Pass through the farm and follow the waymarks to the open moor. Direct ascent from here 1.96 miles 1 hour.moorsman19/06/2015

Arant Haw to Fell Head circuit from Howgill Lane. Achingly steep descent from Fell Head. Continued on to Castley Knotts, a beautiful viewpoint for the Howgills in the late afternoon sun, and joined Howgill Lane at Four Lane Ends.Jake99407/04/2010
