Up faint wet path by fence from Cross of Greet | trimarc2 | 24/02/2023 |
Straight up from the Cross of Greet (parking just to the South of the summit) using the fence lines as a handrail. On this the sunniest day in November on record, we found the pea soup fog invigorating. And very very annoying. | nickywood1 | 13/11/2022 |

2nd of 3 along the border ridge, after Burn Moor. Great views, esp of 3 Peaks. on to Bowland Knotts and bike strategically left near road at col. | IanHHill | 28/08/2018 |
From Bowland Knotts. Easier walking than expected on dry ground, following ATV route. Predictably fine view of the Three Peaks made me think I should have done the walk in more scenic weather. On to Burn Moor. | Wycombe Wanderer | 11/08/2018 |

Bagging day in the Forest of Bowland after days of rain, we must be mad! Parked at Cross of Greet Bridge, walked up wet lane to grouse butts to end, guessed which way to go then walked across easy short heather then hideous water-filled groughs to tower and along fence to trig, followed fence along to top of pass, terribly boggy for some of the way, very wet for entire way, crossed pass and hideous bog channel in the col, then up easy grass and heather to Hailshowers Fell, easy terrain back along and down steep side to car park by bridge. Earlier that day bagged Top of Blaze Moss and Whins Brow (surprisingly not very boggy). 9.1 miles altogether, lovely and sunny. | DanTrig | 04/03/2017 |
Sheep with its head and horns stuck fast in a wire fence took a huge effort to free and gave a taxing but eventually succesfull struggle on the swampy plod from Bowland Knotts. Once free it ran off into Cumbria having come from the Lancashire side of the fence which follows the boundary here. Nice wave cloud layers over distant Pen y Ghent. With L on 14 mile walk from cottage near Eldrorth. Next more of the same swampy plodding to Burn Moor but with no more Gordian knots to unravel. | Chris Pearson | 28/10/2016 |
With Jo, from Cross of Greet. Weather; sunny, warm, good, if somewhat hazy, visibility. Tramped around both sides of new fence. | amblerbob | 03/06/2016 |
From road summit to W | jimbloomer | 02/06/2016 |
A nice 10 mile round walk including the 2 Towers on White Hill and Bowland Knott. Underfoot conditions were slightly damp, it helped that we'd have a week or 2 of fine weather before the walk otherwise it'd be quite boggy. The walk is over moorland with no real defined paths (other than the gun track up from Greet Bridge). Some ability to navigate is required. | b2dan | 14/05/2016 |
Easy ascent from Cross of Greet beside fence on dull, mild, windy afternoon.Reasonably dry under foot except for first 200 yards, but no doubt would be much worse after a spell of rain. | catman | 11/05/2016 |
After Bowland Knotts, on way to Burn Moor. Ironically in worst hailstorm ever experienced on the hills. Strong wind made it extremely painful. Thunder & lightning as well. | ngthack | 27/03/2016 |
Solo. From parking area at Cross of Greet. I had bagged White Hill first. No dogs allowed up here on this Access Land. | Dangerous Dave | 19/03/2016 |
From Bowland Knotts road top to Clapham station after CMC reunion meet - showery day. | Smudge | 02/08/2015 |
Parked at Cross of Greet, followed fence to ridge, then SE to top. | PeteF | 19/04/2015 |
Parked 2/3 up the Cross of Greet pass from Slaidburn. Back down the road a bit and up Clunter Clough and rough grass to broad summit near fence. Walked along ridge to other possible 'summits'. | Aye Jimmy | 30/03/2014 |
Parked at summit of the road. Once the initial stream is crossed (very boggy so keep to the south of the fence)a footpath running alongside the fence can be picked up which can be followed all the way to the summit. When the summit wall is reached the walking is easier at the other (eastern) side once it gives way to fencing. | moorsman | 03/10/2013 |
Parked after cattle grid at 427 metres at SD6823860865 then Great Harlow, Hailshowers Fell, Bowlands Knotts, return to Hailshowers Fell, Great Harlow, Thistle Hill, Burn Moor and then to road below Moor Cock Farm and then up road back to my car. Very hot sunny day with drier than average moorland underfoot.
486 metre point next to fence didn't seem to be the highest point walking either way over this hill today. A quad track seemed to stop at the highest point before a lower cairn, buried stake and grit point. | Dugswell2 | 07/07/2013 |
Small car park at Cross of Greet Bridge at SD 70247 58996. Bowland Knotts NE Top (tiny 430m contour at SD 72736 60627) - Knotteranum - Bowland Knotts - Hailshowers Hill. Carried on to Raven's Castle then descended via Little Clough back to the road | David Gradwell | 05/08/2012 |
