From Middle Knoll, a steep descent NNW alongside wall, through gate & across pasture to join bridleway via kissing gate in field corner - Bridleway to Dunsop Head & then N. on intermittent trod/path along fence line to white-topped post & summit. | Parked in the car park at Dunsop Bridge, walked along metalled bridleway / footpath up Whitendale to about SD 655 536, then headed up S ridge to summit of Middle Knoll, descended steeply down to the east and then to farm at Whitendale. Headed up BW to east then along fence north to Baxton Fell. Retraced route and followed ridge on to Burn Fell Trig, and down towards Beatrix. Then FP east to Rough Syke Barn and up to Boarsden Moor. Down through fields to near Boardsen, FP south and then up very difficult Faber Knoll, surrounded by BWFs!! Finally south across footbridge and back along pleasant permissive road / track to Thorneyholme Hall and Dunsop Bridge. | Parking for one car by gate c150m SE of end of minor road at SD 69306 54745. We did a circular walk to include Burn Fell. Not because it's blessed with a trig but because it's included in a list of Bowland Tops with at least 15m of drop. | Parking for a single car just before the end of the Hornby Moor road (alt 836ft) If you ignore the notices, plenty just a short distance through the gate. Follow the road as far as the obvious white Witches Stone. Take the next turn off to the left and the track can be followed to about 400 yards from the summit .... after which it is tussock grass. 5.01 miles, 2:20 minutes return trip. | moorsman | 22/10/2015 |

| Parked at the junction of Back Lane and Wood House Lane then walked up the footpath passed Burnside Cottage and onto the fell with an off-piste diversion to Burn Fell trig. Then headed due north over mixed wet moorland to Baxton Fell with Alan Caine. | Limited parking at road end to SE, beyond which 'Your car may be seized' notices. Previous attempt in July failed near Croasdale Quarry, turned back by RSPB because of nesting hen harriers. Higher of two tracks above quarry led onto moor, track faded out for last 400m of rough heather and tussocks. Summit near fence corner, numerous peat hags.
