12.7 mile circular from layby on A624, followed footpaths onto Cown Edge, walked along the edge then headed for Knarrs (very easy to bag with no walls/fences in the way), descended to road then followed path to Kinder Reservoir, climbed steeply up onto Sandy Hays, then went to the downfall which was completely dry, turned back up to The Edge trig point then across dry moors, descending Kinder and onto Mill Hill (4th time bagged), then headed back to the layby via Mill Hill plane wreck and Harry Hut trig. Clear and sunny but hot, plenty of people about, good views north to the South Pennines, Pendle Hill and you could just make out Ingleborough on the horizon, views west over Manchester and towards the Clwydians in Wales.DanTrig02/06/2020
Only on a 7 hour walk today - unlike the last time I came up here 36 years ago when it was on a 9 hour walk! Today with L and the spaniels on a circular from the door in Bredbury -all glorious countryside-on this urban/ rural fringe surrounded by old mill towns and their terraced houses in the deep valleys. Looking at the vast magnificence of Kinder and Bleaklow from here you can see why they became a magnet for the workers from Manchester at weekends in the 1930s and the freedom to roam campaign.Chris Pearson15/05/2020
HP apparently large stone in grassy field, great views east over the Cown Edge. Thirsty and weary after first walk for 7 weeks due to lockdown.Denise 14/05/2020

A lovely evening stroll from the north, where it is possible to park. Along the top of Cown Edge and out to RHPR. The clocks went back two days earlier and it seemed much later than it really was. Dark at five pm! The lights of Greater Manchester looked good in the distance with a regular stream of aircraft on the descent path to the airport. Somebody was having an early firework display in the city.thenomad30/10/2017

2nd hill of four today on a linear route from Hayfield to Glossop, climbing Matley Moor (Knarrs) then visiting the Robin Hood's picking rods and following Cown edge way to where a bridleway drops down across the hill and I walked up past the quarry to the fenceline and across to the summit. Lovely views to the moors. Returned to the Cown Edge way, following it all the way to Charlesworth.Dazingdale19/10/2015
