| From Auchineden Farm (Edenmill) via John Muir Way to Burncrooks Reservoir. Then up through forest. After leaving forest path becomes very wet underfoot (a lot of rain recently). Return via Lily Loch and back to John Muir Way. Walked around north side of Burncrooks, then took path over moorland to the Whangie. In places water logged and Uber mushy. Exit forest into newishky planted area. This means climbing over a high stile. Human plod is still obvious. Crosses and old dry stone wall and upwards. | Beeliner's route is a good one. From the massive, highly commercial Edenmill centre; the Covidiots have destroyed the possibility of parking at the waterworks. Trudge up the tarmac, then John Muir Way into the forestry but carry straight on when JMW turns right. Logging road runs past the Kilmannan reservoir below then ATV track continues to a stile by a gate. Track is mainly easy grass but a few extremely wet patches force tussocky and still wet detours. Then simply follow the path up the hill, crossing a wall before heading to the top. Seems a tedious trudge for a daft pimple in the middle of an industrialised moor full of reservoirs and forestry. | Gill | 12/05/2021 |
| From Cochno Rd, through community woodland, and then anti-clockwise circuit along grass paths and the occasional track to Cochno Hill - Craighurst - Duncolm (600th Marilyn) - Middle Duncolm - Fynloch Hill - The Stacks, returning via the Greenside Reservoir private road. | With E. From Edenmill. Toastie and a pot of tea before walk set us up nicely. Followed John Muir Way up minor road, past Water Works buildings and through gate into open land. Where JMW turns towards reservoir, straight ahead on forest track which eventually comes to an end and continues as a path. Duncolm is ahead. Out of forest, through gate and path winds up to summit. Excellent views to Loch Lomond and its islands, the Highlands beyond as well as Campsie Fells and Burncrooks Reservoir. | Parked at Auchineden farm restaurant but should have driven further up the road to the water works where there is plenty of parking for walkers. Cycled out the road taking the left branch then following the path along the loch edge to where the forestry area ends. Then walked out the new fence all the way to the hill. | A seven mile walk from Eden mill, following the John Muir way to Burncrooks reservoir then continue round the reservoir till you reach a low wall on the left hand side follow this across boggy ground till you reach the base of Duncolm taking four hours to get there and back. | From the east. Parked at Edenmill Centre (Auchineden Farm on 1:50k map). John Muir trail to west arm of Burncrooks reservoir. Pass through gate in new fence, and 50m later bear left on a grassy path (wet in places). This path passes just north of Duncolm: just beyond the hill, a path goes sharp left up to the trig. | Notionally from the 'gasworks', which are quite difficult to get a car to, from a complicated and compact high speed junction - I ended up on a 6 mile detour twice over the Erskine Bridge just to get the 200m N across the Great Western Road. The 'Kilpatrick Braes' CP (='gasworks'), NS4703773211, was closed - re-directed to 'Lunnet' CP, NS4694772851. New signs get you to the start, then nothing - ignore the deterring 'Private Road, Gavinburn' signs - this is the road you need for Loch Humphrey. The ATV track from there meanders about - any paths promising to head more directly towards Duncolm fizzle out in awful terrain - stick with the meandering - it gets you there eventually. | Isbjorn | 27/06/2019 |

| For a low summit so close to population centres, Duncolm is surprisingly long walk in. Cold, unbroken sunshine with little wind. Left car opposite gas works at 471732 and walked up broad heavy duty track to Loch Humphrey.
