Simple walk from bus stop in Upper Largo to cemetery car park, along farm tracks and through yard to the hill itself. Steep climb to the 288m top and then down and up to the summit. Cold windy and limited views. | the pigguy | 08/03/2024 |
Signposted path from the cemetery car park in Upper Largo. Very slippery steep muddy path! Note to dog walkers - dogs only allowed on the hill between December and February when no cattle roaming on the hill. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 16/02/2024 |
Continued to Craig Rock | duchally | 07/02/2024 |
From cemetery car park | DaveMcS | 28/01/2024 |
May have been a second or third ascent, but now have a date! | garbo1103 | 17/11/2023 |
Used the route via Keils Den as in 40 walks Fife book, which then joins on at the cemetry car park.
A steep ascent and descent. Luckily the eroded soil was slightly damp which made it less slippy. | Hirta | 02/10/2023 |
From carpark between cemetery and school. Up the field edge path, then track, around back of barn and up track past wind turbine. Steep ascent up dry path to summit. Warm, dry day but strong, chilly wind on top. Reverse route for descent which was rather slow since dry path was a bit like mini-ballbearings at points | Jubilado | 14/09/2023 |
Up and down from cemetary. Track was reasonably dry. | colazione | 05/08/2023 |
Parked in car park between cemetery and school. Up farm tracks to Chesterstone farm. Up past wind turbine then onto hill. Steep and slippery. No real path until gradient eases off. | PeteF | 17/03/2023 |
Parked at cemetery. Treacherous mud on lower slopes led to donning of shoe spikes, with benefit. Wide views from top. | willyross | 09/12/2022 |
From car park situated between the cemetery & school - A pleasant stroll past rich arable farmland & horse paddocks and then a stiff climb to the summit trig point. Above 220m the slope is not as steep & the path less worn. A fine looking hill. | gerrybowes | 21/09/2022 |
Straightforward climb up path from graveyard car park. | IWC | 23/07/2022 |
Used tips from walk high land. Parked too esrly. Plenty of spaces at CP next to primary school and graveyard. Clearly signed to avoid farm business. V v steep. I detoured on descent and boxed around fields to get me back to original tracks. | VerySlowPlodder | 28/06/2022 |
Family stroll | amswanston | 16/04/2022 |
Last one of the week - later found I was Covid +ve! Walked up from cemetery / school car park and operated on short wave for SOTA on summit. | G4OBK (Phil) | 25/03/2022 |
Main track from Upper Largo graveyard car park to Largo Law. Then via field boundaries to the irresistible ridge of Craig Rock (looking every inch a side vent of the one time Largo Law volcano) and back over the south top of Largo Law. | Nick Down1 | 13/03/2022 |
Parked at the Upper Largo cemetery, followed track to Chersterstone Farm, then straight up the muddy path. Slightly windy on top, Storm Franklin passing through, but dry and sunny. I descended the east slope and around the edge of the lower field to avoid the muddy path. | chillyman8 | 22/02/2022 |
After Elie Chain Walk. Bit of unnecessary hassle finding CP in Upper Largo. Final Fife Marilyn! | iangpark | 17/09/2021 |
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log:

Also parked at the cemetery and followed the signposted route. Very steep from farm to the top and a false summit on the way which made your heart sink! | thejackrustles | 07/09/2021 |
From cemetery up usual route but came back down fence to west from dip and round on sheep trods. | SS | 28/08/2021 |
Straightforward but steep climb up path from graveyard car park. | KevPalmer | 10/05/2021 |
Wanting to also climb the nearby TuMP - Craig Rock to SE - I parked in entrance to Forth House (currently closed) at NO443052. Met friendly dog walker who agreed it was fine to walk field edges. Continued from CR to trig easily via gate at NO433049. A fence had to climbed ENE of trig (no problem). On way back, met horse rider who informed me that the landowner could be quite aggressive if not using the signed approach to the trig from the SW. Luckily I did not meet him. | carole engel | 09/05/2021 |
Bright but cold sunny day. Shame it's an out and back but we combined it with a circuit round nearby Keils Den which was a nice contrast. w/ Shirley. | Hegley | 10/04/2021 |
With family. Clear day but cool NW wind. Sheltered in below main summit for coffee/hot chocolate. | paddyirish | 09/04/2021 |
Icy over mud | Freefall | 28/12/2020 |
Early evening solo walk, as an afterthought, on way home from a family day on the beach at Elie. | barnz48 | 22/08/2020 |
Straight forward hill notwithstanding muddy tracks and tailend of Storm Denis. Don't waste your time looking for a trailhead from the south and the A915. Both access tracks to Thistle Cottage and Alltbeag clearly say 'Private no public access'. So start like everybody else from the south west parking between the cemetery and school on North Feus. Path well signed to Chesterstone were you go round the farm buildings to the west and north to reach the foot of the hill and steep ascent to first false summit. Slight descent and reascent takes you to the summit and trig pillar. visited high ground to west on return route just in case. Back the same way. | mntainman | 17/02/2020 |
A wee trek with Dean | kojak | 28/12/2019 |
From the cemetery car park in Upper Largo. Path clearly signposted through the farm and then a steep climb to the summit. With JT and HT. | Sprog | 22/10/2019 |
#666 Standard route from the cemetery, very windy! | tim747 | 11/10/2019 |
From Upper Largo cemetery on well signposted paths. | Winterfloodian | 24/08/2019 |
Parking is between the cemetary and the school, NO422036. Signposted path to Chesterstone Farm (long wet grass), around the farm on its L, to the rear, and up a green lonning. At the top of the lonning, an extension of the track 45 deg L, offers potential promise of a zig-zag climb - which does not materialise - I found myself on steep, (deep and wet) grass, with tiny toe-holds, as challenging as anything on Ailsa Craig. It is better to stay on the indistinct, but less steep, 'path' directly up the slope ahead. This was very slippery on the way down. No view in the horizontal rain. | Isbjorn | 24/06/2019 |
From the cemetery, on a waymarked path through Chesterstone Farm. | jonglew | 05/06/2019 |
Climbed with Tim. Glorious views from summit. | Skerryvore | 23/03/2019 |
With B from cemetery car park | Danmawr | 26/12/2018 |

From Upper Largo Cemetery CP with Sam. | ChrisR | 25/10/2018 |
Quick up and back from the cemetery. | Fred Windsor | 11/09/2018 |
Short but hot climb on a sunny June afternoon. | summitter | 23/06/2018 |
From cemetery. 50 minute round trip. Trying out new boots. Blistered heal before I started was quite painful when plaster came off. | Longwojo | 11/06/2018 |
My first Marilyn after my new hip. Quite a steep one | tallblond | 26/03/2018 |
From Upper Largo - cemetery car park. | BLACKHILL | 22/03/2018 |
From cemetery CP. xmas day walk - pouring rain and muddy as hell, but good to get out for some air. | Crib Goch | 25/12/2017 |
Third visit to this hill, usual route from the graveyard. I then dropped down east to visit Craig Rock | Colin Crawford | 04/12/2017 |
A lovely first walk of the day, after a night at the splendid Largo Hotel. Great views. The usual route from the cemetery, there's a feeling of GOML and please stick to the footpath in Fife, | Gill | 09/11/2017 |
From the cemetery. | Chris Peart | 25/10/2017 |
With Dave and Jo on very windy, sunny day. Up and down from cemetery. Field mushrooms. | Rounsfell | 02/10/2017 |
From cemetery at NO423037. | summitsup | 27/09/2017 |
With Paul Record from white farm house at end of private farm track with kind permission from the chatty lay there and her friendly little terrier who sadly caught a young bunny rabbit while we were blethering. | vegibagger | 30/08/2017 |
With D, from cemetery car park | Danmawr | 16/07/2017 |
From burial ground via marked route, as most people. It's a route that certainly doesn't avoid the hill's steepness. Good views of where last night's snow fell- S Uplands to Pentlands, quite low down. Traffic chaos on news M9 etc- just like when it snows in England!! 1st of 4 Ma today. | pwheeler | 21/03/2017 |
Up the marked route from the cemetery. Easy descent by returning to col below summit and turning left on buggy track and picking up small path round hill and back to gate at NO 42728 04474. | Lionel Bidwell | 02/10/2016 |
Evening walk from the cemetry in Upper Largo. Well marked path, albeit steep climb. Fine views up the Forth. At 778th Marilyn it marks the half way point...down hill all the way. Haha | N.Morters | 07/09/2016 |
Reached summit at 5.40pm after short stiff ascent from the graveyard | signyred | 31/07/2016 |
The usual route from the cemetery past Chesterstone Farm. A cloudy damp morning with no view from summit. | Windy Corner | 24/07/2016 |
Weather fair. | MountainMac | 23/07/2016 |
Cemetery start, easy path, steep slope and walking pole's would be handy, with Irene. | Hutchie | 10/06/2016 |
Good parking at the Cemetery (422037). A well sign posted route taking an hour return. Steep slope but done in dry conditions on this solo walk. | bolton | 10/05/2016 |
A great early morning walk from the cemy in wintry conditions. | jenx | 30/11/2015 |
With Jenx from the cemetery. Very straightforward, no issues underfoot even after the rain and snow on ground. Marked path all way through the farm and fields. 60 mins enough to complete. Fine views. | nordicstar | 30/11/2015 |
Solo trip. Very steep, quite tricky even in dry conditions. Doesn't take long though. | Invicta14 | 01/10/2015 |
Straightforward walk from the cemetery car park in Upper Largo, fortunately the ground was fairly dry, so no problems on the steep bits. | martin_hall | 02/11/2014 |
parked at cemetery followed path to farm then up hill to summit. | robertphillips | 25/10/2014 |
From cemetery (09:55) along track to farm then steeply up through gorse and more easily to summit. Weather fair, good view. Finish 10:00 | dbb | 14/08/2014 |
Linda | Glenford | 01/11/2013 |
Good path from cemetary | AndrewFinnimore | 04/09/2013 |
Steeper than I was expecting, but pleasant enough walk. | nickywood1 | 04/07/2013 |
mud heap | Thearlaichdubh | 27/12/2012 |
Parked in the village and made my way via the cemetery and farm to the top. | Play2End | 26/10/2012 |
The access point for Largo Law is NO422037, the track beside Upper Largo cemetery. It's an arduous little climb; the path up the hill's flank is loose and very steep and an accident on the descent is almost inevitable. 45 mins to the summit. | johnabutler2 | 25/04/2011 |
Dry, calm, sunny, hot, good views. Can be very muddy when wet. | iangalbraith | 15/08/2010 |
Did a quick walk up with Mike Stevenson. Good views of Fife. Enjoyed it. | iandesbottes | 14/05/2010 |
From Largo cemetary to S. Been very wet for a month so done in wellies. Ideal footwear around farm, not so good on steep slippery track through gorse bushes higher up! Trig on top. | Aye Jimmy | 24/11/2009 |
KeithByTheC | 28/10/2009 | |
Parked at cemetery and followed many locals to the top on a lovely hot summers day with great views of the Firth Of Forth. | Dugswell2 | 06/08/2009 |
No other recorded date found, but many prior ascents. | Topographer57 | 10/07/2009 |
With the two Jims | lordtonult | 23/05/2009 |
Solo. From the cemetery at Upper Largo. Followed the path/track and signpost via Chesterstone. After Chesterstone the path goes steeply and directly up the hillside. There were some zig zag alternatives, one of which I took but these involved much in the way of gorse bushes so in retrospect this was not a good idea. I descended on the main path directly down the hillside. | pwbellarby | 01/03/2009 |
Revisit. Fine twin-topped hill; <mandatory> route from SW, starting at cemy is nice enough although signs are rather shouty. Damp start to the day: caught by a squall at the summit. | RHW | 18/10/2008 |
with Jamie and a viciously kicking horse moved forward then flicked up its back leg and delivered an almighty blow to my right buttock and thigh that gave me a massive bruise. Very Ironic that within an hour I was going to be climbing Mount hill which 95ish Angry Corrie Xmas quiz had asked 'Which hill has a sign on it's path, beware of kicking horse.' | vegibagger | 15/02/2007 |
2nd time. | russell61 | 19/11/2006 |
Solo | 1921 | 09/08/2005 |
Straight up and down from Chesterton Farm. Great views. | Emphyrio | 26/12/2004 |
Walked up on the 'official' path from the cemetery. Great views from the top though. | garyhoney | 18/06/2004 |

Another hill named after a SC Dance! Road to farm and track through winter wheat to grass pasture at top over wire fence. 11.15. | arranc | 17/06/2000 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later...fine twintopped hill, view of Forth & Fife; Craig Rock a v fine mini-Masada feature. 423037 S end cemy, car pk & permissive path (only route allowed) | RHW | 20/02/2000 |
Walked up here several times while living in Fife in the 1970s. | BURGESS | 31/08/1981 |

Steep slippy path up from farm. Most folk sliding, squealing and falling over. Why don't they just walk on the grass instead, all the falling over is totally avoidable. | Fife Walking | blank |
