From Kirroughtree up main path. Forecast promised sunshine but ended up in thick cloud.daviemore17/10/2023
25 years since 1st visit. Dry but misty all day.lordtonult08/10/2023

Round from the viaduct. Knee of Cairnsmore, Cairnsmore of Fleet, Meikle Mulltaggart with descent via Craigronald ridge and forest tracks. Getting onto and off the high ground involved typically awful Galloway tussocks - probably easier just using the good path from the W and accepting the re-ascent from Meikle Mulltaggart?benalder28423/04/2023
Parked at 464632 in the designated area. After the summit of Cairnsmore its a steady drop and then up on an ATV track to the indistinct top. Wind, rain and cloud made this a pretty miserable top. Solo. Headed back to the east slopes of Cairnsmore before the the 'Knee'.bolton25/10/2022
Another visit to this Donald group during my current round. On this occasion, I'd started from Big Water of Fleet viaduct so my exit was to Loch Grannoch over Craigronald, not a route for the fainthearted, steep, vegetated and very slowColin Crawford01/09/2022
Cairnsmore of Fleet from PalnureHuwel27/08/2022
Parking at NX522732. Forest roads to terminus at High Craigeazle. 100m up through easy trees, intersected wet ATV track, followed SW until petered out, then over grim Galloway grass direct up to Millfore Hill. Standing water and bare rock deter the formation of a connecting path to Deer’s Den, then path to Meikle Mulltaggart. Back to Deer’s Den and a grim contour around W flank of Millfore Hill – kept high to minimise the terrible tussock terrain. Followed ATV track back to forest road, but it deteriorated and ‘popped out’ where you would never see it on the way up. Allow plenty of time, every metre you can find on a path or ATV is one less metre at snail pace through grim veg and terrible tussocks hiding ankle wrecking holes. Not recommendedIsbjorn28/05/2022
In the clouds all day. Started at car park below Cairnsmore House. Path up to Cairnsmore of Fleet was pretty good. Then, navigated across the grassy slopes to Meikle Multaggart and then followed the fence to Knee of Cainsmore and down on the grassy slopes, with one boulder field. Last 3 miles were on a good track.tsharp14/01/2022

From Cairnsmore up the tourist path for a round of Knee of Cairnsmore, Cairnsmore of Fleet, Meikle Mulltaggart and Millfore Hill.rhalstead02/05/2021
From Murrays BP car park up forest track and through trees at caravan. atv track helps but going was OK as tussock was flattened. Did south west top (it isn't higher - illusion) then on to Meikle Mulltaggart. Returned down Cuttiemore burn to fb and back to track.SS07/03/2021
Parked in the usual spot near Palnure to the south west and used the summit path before branching of to visit the Knee of Cairnsmore, then returned to visit Cairnsmore's summit and onto Meikle Mulltaggart, extending the route to take in Millfore hill looked worse than it was over rough boggy ground. Eleven mile in six and a quarter hours.WAYNE ROWLETT10/10/2020
From The Cairnsmore car park, tourist route up Cairnsmore of Fleet then on to this one, back via The Knee with A&C on good clear day.PeterD31/08/2020
Round of Cairnsmore of Fleet from viaduct. Knee of Cairnsmore, Cairnsmore of Fleet, Meikle Mulltaggart, Milfore Hill (top and pt601), descent via Craigronald ridge and forest tracks. Midges on ascent until reaching the breeze on the ridgeRobertP15/08/2020
Made my first foray into Dumfries and Galloway this weekend. Took the caravan to Southerness with Stuart Cook also bringing his and Chris & Heather Brisbane in their family's Mazada Bongo. Today I went over to Newton Stewart, to bag the most southerly hill of the main four hill lists (Munros, Corbetts, Grahams and Donalds) Cairnsmore of Fleet (711m) a Donald and a Graham. Also included the nearby Donald Tops of Meikle Mullytaggart (612m) and Knee of Cairnsmore (656m), 06:04hrs all in. Seen some goats on the ridge, the Isle of Man and Alisa Craig.chillyman801/08/2020
Repeat to visit the two DTs. Out to Meikle Mulltaggart, then down via the Knee. With B and R.jenx18/07/2020
Out back of Cairnsmore of Fleet from parking to West. Near but not quite the Simm in collecting Meikle Mulltaggart. Back over knee of Cairnsmore, most Southerly Scottish mountain apparently, down to track which is poor in many places. With Jenx and Bryher.nordicstar18/07/2020
A tough terrain day that started and ended at the viaduct carpark and took in Clints of Dromore East, Mountain End and Craig Hill before heading up to the bigger boys of Knee of Cairnsmore and Cairnsmore of Fleet. Returned via Meikle Mulltaggart and Craigronaid to the forest track at Loch Grannoch Lodge. Best part of 6 hours in total.summitter10/07/2020

Cairnsmore of Fleet, Meikle Mulltaggart, Knee of Cairnsmore and back on track past Knocktim.PGCE17/11/2019
ACW circuit of the Knee, Cairnsmore and Meikle Mulltaggart from the CP near Greddoch Bridge. Excellent paths and fairly easy goping on the rising traverse from the main hill path to the Knee. Visited the cairn and the higher rock summit by the pool, while being blown sideways by an easterly whipping over the escarpment edge. Descending the hill path with the sun setting over the Cree was delightful.Nick Down115/11/2019
Solo from Muirfad P, over Cairnsmore of Fleet down to col and up to unmarked summit of MM. Retraced steps up shoulder of CoF but contoured to join ridge leading to Knee of Cairnsmore. Wind was v cold and blustery: cap exchanged for bunnet. First visit was also solo on 25/09/2015.jacobus13/04/2019
After summitting Cairnsmore of Fleet 2 days earlier for the second time in foul weather & running out of time to bag the other two tops, back for another go. A windy start with J up Cairnsmore yet again by the standard route. At the summit the wind increased & horizontal rain, sleet & hail added to the fun. Down the easy NE slope to the gate, across the col & up an ATV track most of the way to an indistinct summit. Turned straight around back to the col into the teeth of the gale with visibility now gone & followed the line of old fence posts over the shoulder of Cairnsmore to the wall. Found several possible summits on the Knee of Cairnsmore as well as the cairn which at least provided some shelter. Slid off the W flank & contoured easily enough across to the main track using the many goat tracks. Encountered the goats which included one tiny young one! Back down into the trees for some shelter by which point the sun had come out of course.NotReallyABagger24/03/2019
From Cairnsmore over Cairnsmore of Fleet, ATV track on return from the stile above the beallach, bypassed CoF's summit on the east side.LizH06/01/2019

From Cairnsmore down and up ATV track to flat featureless summit (no cairn found). Then back up and across to Knee on easy ground.AndrewFinnimore29/09/2018
Parked by the Big Water of Fleet Viaduct at 558643 & up Knee of Cairnsmore & Cairnsmore of Fleet. From Cairnsmore of Fleet, picked up ATV track down to col & up to within a short distance of unmarked summit; no sign of the overgrown cairn. A very tussocky, but fortunately dry, descent over Craigronald & down to S. end of Loch Grannoch - Good tracks back to car. (S)gerrybowes05/06/2018

From NX462632 where parking is available beside a lane. Solo. Standard route to summit of Cairnsmore of Fleet. On to Knee of Cairnsmore. Returned up the SE ridge of Cairnsmore of Fleet alongside remains of fence. Continued beside fence to Nick of the Saddle. Followed track up Meikle Mulltaggart leaving track to go to summit. Summit area very flat so highest point not obvious. Followed track back to Nick of the Saddle and continued on it to near the summit of Cairnsmore of Fleet. Down path to start. Mist came and went so some views.pwbellarby25/07/2017
