Parked to NE of hill at quarry road entrance. Followed track up to the end, then followed fence to summit. Back same way. Solo.Dangerous Dave17/10/2023
Deviated from Ayrshire Coastal Path to climb Downan Hill, Carlock Hill, Green Benan and Penderry Hill on walk from Benane Head to Glenapp Kirk. A big day in winter boots in July but I still claim to have completed ACP.lordtonult29/07/2021
P track entrance to NE, track to old quarry & straight up. On to Green Benan via Milgarva.agentmancuso04/01/2020
Parked at the end of the forest track at approx NX093774. Walked a short distance then kept right on the track, and after about another 100m, left the forest by a gate. Up on grass, with just the odd boggy bit. The electric fence near the summit was rusty and not in use. Sad to read the memorial stone. Beautiful views.LizH18/06/2019
A quick nip before catching a ferry to Larne.richtea504004/05/2019
From A77 as described by others. Fine small hill.RobertP09/12/2018
10th hill of 13 today on my penultimate South Ayrshire completion walk on a challenging route from Lendalfoot to Ballantrae, climbing Balsalloch, Knockormal, Ballaird, Littleton, Knockdolian, Sallochan, Knockdhu, Big Fell and Smyrton Hill, joining track near tower at Auchencrosh hill to reach A77 then headed South for about 300m before climbing direct to the summit over rough ground. A monument to Ellie lies about 10 metres from Summit. Continuing on ridge to Green Benan.Dazingdale18/05/2017
From the track off the A77 at NX 09282 77378. Took the track up to a gate, then onto the open moor and up the NE flank to the summit. Returned the same way. Solo. Fierce NE wind.Man of Kernow122/03/2017

in deep snow, from track to SE, into now felled forest. Followed to end then headed right to fence, followed easily to break to left and another fence/wall lead to top. Sweet monument not high point, this is back at gap in wall.nordicstar16/03/2013

Parked at the start of the track to the quarry. Just after the r turn there is a gate which lets you out to the open hillside. The fence from the NW has an electrified top wire but near the monument it is insulated for a couple of feet.chrisbien10/04/2010
