As others, parked at Mow Cop Castle. Bagged that then followed Gritstone Trail around to the Old Man. Path up far side of the stone leads to trig. Fine spot to visit. Also bagged Overmoor, Shutlingstone, Cats Tor and Shining Tor. Enough for a warm day. | Pete West | 31/05/2021 |

From free NT car park by castle (a folly designed to look like a ruin), along Gritstone Trail & path along N. side of enclosure - Path up alongside fence to trig point. (not ticked) | gerrybowes | 19/09/2018 |
Great climb on warm evening, led by Rick and Richard. Supported by Jenny, Alan, Bryher and Freddie. Spiral Route, starting with easy step at the back, then inelegant mantle shelf onto block, traverse left, out around overhang ( easy for second) to stance. Finally up front corner of top block to join the leaders before abseiling off the back. Delighted, easier than anticipated- as second. | Denise | 06/08/2018 |
Via the Spiral Route VS 4a. Alternate leads with RickS, belaying in the corner beneath the final block. Reasonable protection and an ancient rusty eye bolt at the top to abseil off from - which we back up with a double rope down the long side. I thought it probably deserved a 4b grading. Very fine views. A memorable evening in the company of Denise, Rick, Jenny, Alan, Geoff, Jenny and the dogs Bryher and Freddie. | RichardM | 06/08/2018 |
With Richard McLellan, Denise and Jenx, plus Alan W and a few pups! Spiral Route VS 4b, middle block has fallen out making the traverse possibly harder. Richard lead first pitch me the second. Nice airy face to surmount, interesting bolt on top to arrange an abseil off | nordicstar | 06/08/2018 |
mmmm..how can this be do-able when the notice says KEEP AWAY FROM THE HIGH ROCK FACES | softsquare | 09/02/2018 |
Nice wander round village. Visited trig, folly and old man | Longwojo | 11/01/2018 |
Started from Ackers Crossing and used the South Cheshire Way. Took about 35 minutes, path very muddy in places. 205m ascent. Some good views despite murky conditions. | RoguePulsar | 03/01/2018 |
Visited trig. | PGCE | 22/11/2017 |
Quick visit w Jenx and Bryher on way back north. Damp day so didn't dally. Castle CP, visited the folly then up to high point at trig. Good recce of the Old Man which will return to on a better day with the rope for a scramble up. Best access to trig in from track underneath rather than what would be through a garden from East. | nordicstar | 11/07/2017 |
Viewed from the trig point area in pouring rain. To be climbed another day! | jenx | 11/07/2017 |
