Overnight boat, then bus to Laxey. Up via Baldhoon, track ends in series of grassy fields preferable than the path/track overgrown with broom up to the Bungalow. Summit just clear as clouds gather. Large pot of tea in the cafe before continuing over the high tops.1/4 | N.Morters | 16/03/2024 |
4th Manx Marilyn, parked at the Bungalow and walked straight up, past a couple descending at the mid point and seen one runner on the summit, other than that the hill was empty. No wonder as visibility was about 25m, so only seen one Kingdom, the Isle of Man, even Heaven was hidden behind the cloud.

Visited later that day again, with my Dad, via the Electric Railway from Laxey, we hung in the summit cafe for a bit, to catch the last train of 2023 back down. | chillyman8 | 29/10/2023 |
Took the railway to the top.
Cold, wet, very windy and visibility of 10 to 15 meters:-) | Dave | 28/10/2023 |
Just under 2 miles up and down via normal route from Bungalow station. Nice and early on a cold, clear and sunny day. The views were far reaching of England, Northern Ireland and Wales. The wicklows in Ireland and the closer Galloway hills in Scotland could just about be made out. Amazingly we could easily see the shape of Yr Eifl on the Lleyn Peninsular in Wales nearly 90 miles away! This is the second time we have done Snaefell after originally climbing it back in October 2019. The weather was great both times. 227m ascent on this walk. 2nd of 5 hills today. Earlier we bagged Carn Gerjoil and later on bagged Slieau Ruy, Colden and Slieau Maggle. | DanTrig | 16/10/2023 |
From Bungalow. A14 and A18 road closures and no trains ensured we had the top to ourselves. | summitsup | 25/09/2023 |
Train to Laxey then to Snaefell. Bagged summit then down to BLack HUt and out to North Barrule over Clagh Ouyr and Beinn Rein. Returned to former then picked up path to row round Slieau Lhean and on back to Laxey | SS | 12/09/2023 |
Third visit, up and down from Black Hut. Very hot yet it was blowing hard on top, views washed out in a heat haze | Colin Crawford | 05/09/2023 |
Short but steep walk up from the cafe on the mountain road. Fantastic views all around but unfortunately cloud descended. Lots of people owing to mountain railway. Done with Corrina, Joe & Tom. | fnem | 16/08/2023 |
With E. Original plan to walk up from Laxey but dreadful weather meant we got the tram up to summit station and then braved the elements - gale force winds, torrential horizontal rain/sleet, thick cloud - for very short walk to summit trig and hp. Then dash back into summit cafe for welcome hot drinks! | Beeliner | 29/03/2023 |

Came up on the train from Laxey and then an easy walk from the station to the summit and trig. Great views to Ireland, Scotland and England you could just make out Anglesey | Tony Hartry | 28/09/2022 |

Came up on the tram from Laxey and then an easy walk from the station to the summit and trig. No views today due to low cloud. | praenterprise | 10/09/2021 |
Easy path up from Bungalow. Intermittent breaks in summit cloud. | Topographer57 | 29/08/2021 |
8 mile there-and-back walk from Black Hut car park, climbed steeply up wet path to Snaefell summit then returned to car park and followed great ridge over Clagh Ouyr, Beinn Rein and North Barrule, then back same way to car. Amazing views today of Scotland: Galloway Hills, you could easily see Merrick, Cairnsmore of Fleet, Corserine, Cairnsmore of Carsphairn and Criffel. England: Forest of Bowland and Lake District, you could easily see Black Combe. Northern Ireland: Antrim mountains and Mourne mountains you could easily see Slieve Donard, Slieve Commedagh and Slieve Binnian. Wales: you could see Anglesey Holyhead Mountain and Ireland: you could just make out the Irish coast not to mention the whole of the Isle of Man. Afterwards drove around to and bagged Carraghan, Beinn-Y-Phott and Mullagh Ouyr. A few people about. | DanTrig | 20/10/2019 |

Ascent from Ballagilley (the Hibernian) to Park Lewellyn, following the mountain wall, to summit North Barrule. Follow ridge to south west to Clagh Our and descent to Black Hut. Along the Verandah to Bungalow and ascent of Snaefell. Descent to north-east to Sulby Reservoir, and cross dam, through Tholt-e-Will Plantation to Druidale Road. Follow Green Road past Slieu Dhoo and then climb Slieu Freoaghane. Descent to Sartfell Plantation, follow Green Road via Slieau Maggle, Lhargee Ruy and descent to Crosby via Cronk Breck to Cronk ny Moghlane and return to road via Millenium Way to Ballaharry. | raymooremanx | 13/07/2019 |
From Laxey by train. Sunny, clear to the west so could see Northern Ireland, slightly too hazy in other directions for distant views. | Owen B | 18/06/2019 |
With Val. Parked at Bungalow and followed path to summit. Lunch in the café then descended same route. Climbed again on 19/06/2019 this time from the harbour at Laxey to make a better walk of it. Ascended via path that contours south of Slieau Ouyr and Slieau Lhean to Black Hut then weak path to summit. Descended same route. A great walk. | mike.hoult | 14/06/2019 |
Although it was nice weather when I started walking up the hill, just before I got to the top it turned really nasty - strong wind, rain and hail. | Alancache | 14/06/2019 |

5th tump of 11 on a 43km circular from Ballure, climbing North Barrule, Beinn Reinn, Claugh Ouyr and Slieau Managh, re-tracing route back SE then heading South to drop onto the Millenium way, following this over the stream and where the trail veers off SE I headed South direct for Snaefell, climbing upto the railway just as an electric Tram whirred past and then over to the Trig pillar and summit rock. Pity there was no view. I paid the cafe a visit, a much more sedate affair than at Snowdon. My gps recorded 621m @ SC 39778 88090. Onwards route was NE on the flagged pathway continuing over a fence and over the railway to the John Smythe shelter and then SE heading for Slieau Lhean.... | Dazingdale | 21/07/2018 |

A dull trudge on a trodden path up an almost featureless hillside from Black Hut was the price for ethical bagging. The view was fabulous though, Lake Dist, Galloway and Snowdonia, from the deserted (at 1715 hrs) summit. By electric railway in 1978- a better way! Best view of Laxey Wheel. Interesting and delightful rolling stock. | pwheeler | 17/06/2017 |
Fantastic cheat of a Marilyn. Took the train up with Hannah to celebrate her 30th birthday. Cloudy but beautiful at the summit. | Fionalevey | 01/05/2017 |
