From Snowdon Ranger car park, up the main track, but taking the left fork to revisit Foel Goch to bag it as a Dewey, then along the ridge over Foel Gron to Moel Eliio. Then back tracked and over Moel Cynghorion, before re-joining the Snowdon Ranger path. A tough climb up this section in the heat of a very hot day to reach Crib y Ddysgl, then joining the long line of hikers heading for Yr Wyddfa, the Snowdon summit, but only a 10 minute queue to reach the trig. A long, nearly 9 hour, day in the heat to cover the 22km with 1700m of ascent.silverwolf_alan10/08/2022
10.6 mile walk from end of little road leaving Llanberis (not many spaces to leave cars). Following good path into Maesgwm valley then a fairly steep pull onto Moel Cynghorion. We descended back to the col and climbed very steeply onto Foel Goch, then followed the lovely grassy ridge over Foel Gron and onto Moel Eilio (2nd time bagged) then a long descent to Bwlch Y Groes. Easy up onto Cefn-Du then back to col and descended along good tracks back to car. 968m ascent in high cloud/sunny/breezy conditions. Great views of the surrounding hills, a few people about.DanTrig13/06/2022
A much quicker walk than I expected due o quality of paths. Up Snowdon Ranger path to a few metres below the col then back along the good ridge path and down to the west to join Llanberis path and then Snowdon Ranger. Great views and a very pleasant walk. Time left to drive round and do Mynydd Mawr before the light went.dickscroop27/12/2021

As I descended from Snowdon, I decided to climb Moel Cynghorion from the Rangers path. Follow path to left of fence, over stile to the corner of the field. The summit is the corner post. Awesome 360 views of Wales's greatest mountains on show. To descend, follow fence towards Llyn Cwellyn and pick up path to Moel Ellio. Turn left onto this path and descend to Rangers Path, whereby you can go back to the car park or climb Snowdon if not already done so. This was a more rewarding climb than Wales's highest mountain simply for the brilliant views. Need a clear day something that rarely happens high up in Snowdonia.giant_hiker03/06/2019

Fifth summit of another Epic day, from Pen Y Gwyrd hotel to Pen Y pass, Craig Fach, Crib Goch, Garnedd Ugain and then Snowdon. I took the Ranger path from Snowdon and branched off from that to take the ridge leading up to Moel Cynghorian. The climb was harder than I expected but from the slopes Snowdon looked majestic and I could see Tryfan in the distance and the other Glyder summits in shade and silhouette, totally beautiful. I continued on to summit, Foel Goch, Foel Gron and Moel Elio before taking the long slog down to Llanberis.Dazingdale08/07/2014

First mouontain ascent for Geraint (10) and Thea (7). Started following Snowdon Ranger path from the YHA. When we got to rocks above lake Llyn Ffynnon y-gwas the path became too icy to continue up Snowdon, so we headed for Moel Cynghorian instead. The path to the summit is not marked on the map but is easy to see when you get there - a steep walk up the path that follows the side of the fence to the top. At the top we beared left, walking along the ridge for just over a mile until reaching the path from Llnaberris to SR path. Turing left we rejoined SR path in just under half a mile, and returned to YHA. Great walk with fantastic views - exciting but safe for kids. Highly reccommended.Austin06/04/2013

climbed as part of walk 3.2 from the guide bookdianepick24/11/2001
The ascent to Moel Cynghorion follows the same path as the Snowdon Ranger before turning left to follow a stream up very steep grass. I’m convinced there must have been an easier way. The actual summit is flat so I walked about for a bit just to make sure. Very windy and no-one else on the mountain. Good view of the Glyderau including Tryfan.peter4lc08/09/2001
