Came up from the Rhyd Ddu car park, a long slog to the top of Yr Garn but miles better than coming from the West side that I ended up going down to Cae Amos bothy, and then completing the loop back up the valley. The quarry at the top of the valley is a nice (dramatic) surprise after the long road walk.andrewroberts04/03/2023
Nantlle ridge W to E, very rough, awkward descent to Y Garn, esp with small dog and large packs, going up would have been much better. Nantlle ridge definitely best approached from east. Good, clean descent to Rhyd Ddu.richardrosser20/10/2022

Enjoyable walk along Nantlle ridge on clear/dry day with thunder elsewhere. Started near Talysarn - path through quarries difficult to follow. On to Myndd Mawr and down to Waunfach. Bus worked well from Caernarfon to start / finish.davechaffey11/05/2021

A 13 mile walk using nuttall's route the one change I would make is the return to Rhyd-Ddu from Craig Cwm Silyn its not that good it looked better to return to Mynydd Tal-y mignedd and follow the ridge down to the deserted quarry.WAYNE ROWLETT01/06/2019

The Nantlle Ridge from Rhyd-Ddu to near Maen-llwyd. With daughter, Katherine. Followed good path from SH566526 which goes steeply up to the summit of Y Garn. Good visibility here but mist came down for scramble up Mynydd Drws-y-coed. Compass in use for ascent of Trum y Ddysgl and on to Mynydd Tal-y-mignedd. The connecting col between these two hills has a level platform with very steep sides with a somewhat disconcerting dip half way along. It is easy enough to negotiate, though.pwbellarby11/04/2018
Route: Rhyd Ddu – Y Garn – Mynydd Drws-y-coed – Trum y Ddysgl – Mynydd Tal-y-mignedd – Craig Cwm Silyn – Garnedd-goch – road junction SE of Talysarn. Stats: 5hrs43, 13.7km, 1,067m ascent.
