Heather bash from Llyn Brenig via ancient burial site in fortunately dry conditions. Good views from summit. With Vaughan. | JohnIvor | 05/07/2022 |
5/11 As others parked in the layby a little way downhill from the gate saying No Unauthorised Persons, ignored it, and went up the track to the access land, then along the field boundary to the trig. No sheep in field, no farmer seen, no wind farm employees, just loads of turbines gently rotating. 25 minutes there and back. | silveracorn_alan | 15/04/2022 |
Drove round from Sportsman's Arms via Bryn Golau and parked in layby just S of pt 465. After pausing before going through the windfarm gate to let a white van go from the farmland to the windfarm, we went alongside one fence further SSW than most to an easy crossing to the access land at SJ 000555. Trig and HP, in SH, in the access land very rough, we were glad we came up the improved pastures. As the map suggested, Pete and I thought this highest spot round Llyn Brenig not a place to linger. | pwheeler | 22/03/2022 |
didn't go from east as had Winnie the new puppy and there were hundreds of sheep in fields so from 0052454844 up forest track then n thru plantation where Winnie was interested in possible badger sett and up fence line | underhill | 04/03/2022 |
Parked in the pull in at grid ref 00493 55346 and headed north up the road and into the field on the right with the wind turbines following a track at the side of the pasture to get close to the summit which is protected by barb wire. Twenty five minute round trip. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 30/05/2021 |
As others, from road to east. | PGCE | 14/12/2020 |
Marial Gwyn (Foel Goch)[Marial Gwyn S8581] from GR: SJ 00481 55573, Ignored the sign so a straight forward bag. Farmer came to deliver some sheep as we were leaving and didnt say a word. | ronaldo333 | 20/08/2020 |
Marial Gwyn (Foel Goch)[Marial Gwyn S8581] from GR: SJ 00481 55573 | Hippster | 20/08/2020 |
Road upto the Trig gated and had signs saying Private property/Keep out ect. Found a path that ran close to the hill, cut through the Heather and stinging nettles to get to Trig. Fence hopping involved. | M6KIO | 19/07/2020 |
With Rufus from road to E as others. Hopped over the gate and stepped over damaged BWF at top. I noticed that 2 vans were parked very close by at the base of one of the wind turbines, must have arrived as I got to the trig point. I returned the same way and they didn’t seem bothered by my presence. | jacobrichmond | 03/04/2020 |
Parked to the East by gate on bend in road SJ004555. | David Evans | 20/01/2020 |

What can you say? For hill baggers, only. Only done by hill baggers. Ten minutes does it. | Eddie | 13/01/2018 |
Climbed with my Californian friend from the old farmhouse near Llyn Brenig. Round the lake, thru the forest and cut up across the moor to reach the trig and good views of the Clwydian hills. Both stopped frequently to eat the bilberries! | John Eley | 29/07/2017 |
Me and Alf. From minor road to the East. | jrj | 21/02/2017 |
I chose the same way of ascent as most others, just be aware though. As i was sitting on the tailgate of the car changing my boots, after the walk, a police car come to a rather dramatic halt. Apparently I had been seen acting suspiciously !!!! Whether somebody monitors the cctv cameras (that can be seen mounted on the masts) or it was somebody passing by i don't know! I only crossed the land for a matter of about 50m to a gate into a farmers field and followed the fence on the field side. Im just glad the nice policeman didn't search me and find the sticks of dynamite! | thenomad | 10/02/2017 |
A good area to park on the bend at 005555. Under 30 minutes to reach and return from this summit. Great views of the Carnydds and Snowdon range. With CJM. | bolton | 05/01/2017 |

Parked in the wide gateway by the southernmost wind turbine at 0048 5559 - Over metal gate & headed up to top-right corner of field & crossed old metal gate by cattle grid - A walk through short heather to summit. On return climbed barbed wire fence to top-left corner of field. (S) | gerrybowes | 11/02/2016 |
Easy up and back from where the road merges from the forest. The farmer was waiting for me when I got back down as somebody had broken into one of the wind turbines a couple of days earlier and vandalised it. | clivevilla | 08/09/2015 |
10/13 quick walk up through field past turbine to trig pillar | Fergalh | 16/05/2015 |
From north end of Llyn Brenig using ROW then CROW land to get to Foel Goch Wind Farm. Returned through the farm and down through forest on tracks to car. | SS | 25/05/2014 |
