From road to the west. Fourth visit for airDryClay cast/mould of trig FBvegibagger25/03/2024
After Caergwrle castle, I headed up through a marshy area that loops round to a minor lane then up an enclosed track to reach the same lane further up, crossing to take a fp West(not clearly marked on the ground) then Sw as it climbs up through the woodlannd to eventually reach the lane at the top. I headed to the Transmitter track and climbed over the bwf where a wooden fence makes it easier. A short walk up the grassy rise took me to the top. Descent via Sands farm to reach minor lane that heads down past the 136m spot height. I then used path and roads to cross the lovely medieval bridge then arrive at the Southern side of the playing field that took me back to the car park. AFterwards I headed over to Bwlchgwyn for another 3 tump circular...Dazingdale11/02/2024
Parked at Waun y Llyn Country Park and walked up icy road to Coed Mawr Uchaf farm. Had obtained permission from farmer and she explained the best route through the gates to the top. Clear views to Moel Famau and Foel Fenlli.peter4lc06/12/2023
From minor road to the east. Parked on grass verge up through gates to masts. One b/w fence to cross to reach trig. Nice and simple. With Jill. Met a fellow hillbagger (Neil) by the fence!Dangerous Dave05/11/2023
Drove to the farmhouse and asked for permission to go to the trig pillar. The lady there, Jane, was very pleasant and was happy for us to park there and pointed out the gates to go through to get to the top. She was also happy for me to make this public on social media. Very nice lady who even apologised for the poor weather which would spoil the views. Great short round trip from there with no barbed wire to cross. Fourth out of four Marilyns for the day.KevPalmer28/09/2023
Parked at transmitter track gate. Up track to transmitter, struggling finding decent route across new barbed wire fence (normal field stuff, just weak posts) at boundary between transmitter and field. Once in field easy slog up to trig point. Returned finding a slightly east way over barbed wires east of the transmitters. 30mins all.chillyman817/09/2023

From free carpark in centre of Caergwle, junction of high street and Bryn Yorkin St just past War Memorial. Steeply SW through woods with a myriad of paths to road. Then,n along road to col , then aerial track SW to domed grassy field. Trig on top with splendid views. No recollection of my 2002 ascent!Denise 29/01/2022
From Caergwrle. Great circular walk. The castle hill is closed off currently, I'm guessing due to post Storm Arwen damage.greboicus05/12/2021
Difficult to Park at Mast Road Entrance , luckily the gate was unlocked so drove up to the masts and parked there. One BWF to cross to reach the summit Trig.Jephcote8307/08/2021

One of those hills where you wish you had a navigator in the car on the approach! In the end, found the gate to the masts, and there's space for 1 car to squeeze in. Vis down to about 20m.huwthomas25/10/2019

Originally from Talwrn looking for track to masts, but inadequate parking for camper. Continued to S end of Mountain Road, but sign showing 'Unsuitable for Motor Vehicles, so continued to Waun-y-Llyn country park. Mountain Road is OK from there at least to farm, and friendly farmer (WWW - We Welcome Walkers)indicated parking and route.henryfm15/09/2019
Parked the caravan in Hope, unhitched and drove up to the start of the mast road. Up the road, over the bwf and to the summit trig.NormanW09/07/2019
From Waun-Y-Llyn Country Park - Mountain Road then through cattle field. Great view over Cheshire. Cattle skittish on way back. Jovial farmer invited me to walk through farmyard.Longwojo15/06/2019

From Waun-Y-Llyn Country Park - Mountain Road and after asking for permission at the farm walked to hill summit and trig. A bit murky today but fine views over England. Explored the trackways around the Country Park before we headed off.briandavies22/09/2018
3/3 Marilyn day. Very short walk from the road. (S)silveracorn_alan18/09/2018
Approached by car from Talwrn. Used the track up to the masts (not marked on my map but easy enough to locate) having parked a little way down the road (just beyond a passing place) where the verge was just about wide enough. Alternatively you might squeeze in opposite the mast track entrance. At the top of the track I went into one of the mast compounds (a) to avoid some curious horses and (b) because hopping over the barbed wire fence was easier. It was then a short stroll up to the trig. Great views all round.Clach Liath22/07/2018

7/7 Marilyn. From mast track to the north...weary legs greatful of short pull to summit. Great views over the Cheshire plain and to Wirral...windyN.Morters24/12/2017
Seventh of the day, perfect for a short winter day, as it can be done very easily in the dark via the mast track. Dead easy to find the top, because glow from street lights silhouettes the trig very nicely. The night-time city-scape from the top is amazing, all manner of different coloured street lights stretching as far as the eye can see. Various fireworks going off too.Gill02/11/2017
drove up mast road, then short walk to the top.robertphillips05/08/2017

Parked at country park cp. Up road & asked the nice lady at the farm for permission. It was readily granted. Told to enjoy the view & that the electric fence near the top wasn't on. What's the opposite of a GOML ?ngthack14/02/2017
