From a layby on the A4212 next to Llyn Celyn: Foel-boeth, Waun Garnedd-y-Filiast, Carnedd y Filiast, Carnedd llechwedd-Llfyn and Arnig Fach. Never again- this is one for hardened holl-baggers only. Miles and miles of stumbling through pathless heather.Lazylizzie30/08/2021
From first layby on East Side of the Lyn Celyn North arm. Clockwise circuit over high tops abs the little one by the road which was a heather slog lower down when one was of tracks.vegibagger14/07/2021

With Rufus, I had logged this historically but I’m not convinced I actually visited the summit before. Approached from Ysbyty Ifan on drovers road past Ty Nant. Ventured East from track and ascended the watercourse of Crymnant which was interesting. Direct to summit.jacobrichmond03/05/2020

Llyn Celyn through forest to footpath via Nant-y-Coed to Waun Garnedd-y-Filiast to Carnedd y Filiast to Carnedd Llechwedd-llyfn to Arenig Fach. Descend via east ridge to Llyn Celyn. Clear weather, but cold and windy. Saw nobody all day. Walked solo. Once past Carnedd y Filiast, the route was mainly pathless and very rough going ... bogs and tussock grass! Arenig Fach a nice wild mountain with a fine corrie tarn, though the others were rather forgettable lumps!jamessteel10005/04/2018

As part of Nuttall walk 6.2, with Penda, 6.5 hours. Easy thanks to track and path. an unimpressive lump. At this point one must decide - go back, or go on and finish the route. Both are long trips.beorwulf08/07/2017
from carnedd y fillaist you follow the fence which is not that boggy the large pile of stone cairn marks the summitAristotle Chip08/01/2017
Parked by Llyn Celyn and followed good track most of way to Foel-boeth then headed off up through heather to summit of Foel-boeth. Continued through heather and bog to Llechwedd llyn, Carnedd y Filiast and Waun Carnedd y Filiast. Returned to car along good track. With SH and PR.wombourne07/10/2016
From Foel Boeth. After some scorching weather, suddenly a cool breeze and the flipping mist's come down. Wearing just shorts and t-shirt, carrying only my car key and with painful groin chafing, wondered whether to carry across through the energy sapping terrain to the distant looking hill I can't see anymore. On to Carnedd y Filiast.Wycombe Wanderer15/09/2016

Up forestry track which soon runs out so left with gorse and briar and no track until wall found then quickly up to Pen Garneddwen, deep heather and wet to Foel-boeth then Carnedd Llechwedd-llyfn [Llechwedd-llyfn] then trough of Bowland damp walk to Carnedd y Filiast then Waun Garnedd-y-Filiast then back to start of track which was followed to road to avoid further deep heather and bog. A very good choice of return route.Dugswell207/09/2015

There is a cairn by the fence- need to go 200 yards towards Llyn Celyn to find true top. A long way from here to top of Arenig Fach. Mistake I made was not to follow the fences. Follow fences to reach the top of Arenig Fach. Might be longer but I think it will be easier!!!johnjennison28/05/2015
