Starting at the car park @ SO 09971 19686 road walked up to the Talybont Reservoir dam, crossing it and briefly joining the Taff Trail before hopping a stile and following the Usk Valley Walk path, eventually turning off after negotiating a cow field to a poor excuse for a sheep track, wet and boggy underfoot essentially going straight up the side to the summit before continuing onto Bryn Melyn | lboutside | 28/02/2022 |

Solo hike, first in sunshine but swiftly clouding over. Starting at car park beneath Bleaen Onneu quarry, to the 541m trig pillar and on to the Chartist Cave then Summit of Mynydd Langynidr. Descent to road and on to the disussed quarry of Cwar Blaen-dyffryn, then summit of Cefn yr Ystrad (617m). Nice drive along wee road from Tallybont-on-usk. Park where road meets Beacons Way. Take a moment at the stone table and chairs to savour the fantastic view of Tallybont Resevoir and Waun Rydd.
