1/5. Parked in 2car layby just S of access track and approach road to the riding stables to the East. Followed the road/track to the hp. Sunny morning, great views. Solorichard6929/11/2023
Parked on road to east of hill, in large pull in opposite house gates. Up lane to Access Land (where there is space to park one vehicle). Good path to summit. With Jill.Dangerous Dave07/11/2023
Parked in housing estate at 122842, footpath between houses and up into forest, follow track second right, left, right onto ridge and up to top, great views, continued on and down and right turn down road/track towards riding school, turned away by nasty landowner at riding school and denied PROW, saw signs that threatened to shoot your dog if off its lead, real nice, re-routed to behind riding school and followed path back to forest and back to startTribal2er03/09/2022
Parked in pull in on road opposite house drive. Then up lane to equestrian center. Then onto open access land. Trig bolt at summit.cjo05/06/2022
With KeithByTheC. Parked in Fforest Fawr Car Park. Walked along minor road to pick path from the East going up Craig Yr Allt. Headed East off ridge then down woodland path to Garth to pick up the crossing points of the A470, then the railway and the river. Headed past the pub up Garth Hill, then just before steep hairpin bend took a track to the right. Followed this until it met a path of up to the left which then led past fields and up onto the open land then obvious path up the ridge to the summit. To descend took the path heading SSE until it hit the road. Down the road a little way then path off to the left leading to the Nature Reserve. Through the Nature Reserve to the minor road. Then along to the junction of the A470 picking up the Tarff trail . Path straight up to the Castle, then back on the red route through the forest to the car park. 10 miles, 4hrs walking time per Strava. Very pleasant walk.JulieB23/03/2022
From Fforest Fawr car park via minor roads. Then end to end east to west along the ridge. KeithByTheC23/03/2022

Taff's Well - Garth Hill - Taff's Well - Craig yr Allt - Taff's Well. Took a bit of a loop around each hill.davidpettit8421/11/2021
Parked just along north-south minor road to east of hill. We were a bit worried about the parking after reading other comments but found a safe place along the road towards the pub not far from the footpath up/access lane to hill. Ascended lane then after a bit of confusion with paths not wanting to go to the summit we found the right way up. Descended the same way. A few people about. The views weren't great as it was very grey and murky so we couldn't see very far. 4th of 5 Marilyns today. Earlier we bagged Mynydd Y Glyn, Cefn Eglwysilan and Garth Hill and afterwards we bagged Wentwood. 120m ascent.DanTrig05/09/2021

Parked in the Black Car park , down the road opposite and up toward riding school and then onto zig zag path. Great views.Hippy7719/06/2021
Rom east not far from Black Cock Pub. Up the road to just before Riding School then first track then path to ridge. Fine shapely hill. Blowy Storm Francis, 5/6 MarilynN.Morters25/08/2020
From Black Cock Inn carpark as angry signs everywhere else. Rain stopped on way up, bit of a view, started on return, heavily. Rounsfell26/01/2020

Parked at 14188523. Took the wrong path up so had to wade through 100m steep uphill bracken. A Bridleway runs past the high point so followed that down.NormanW07/10/2019
From Taff’s Well railway station north on the Taff Trail, then east up the western slopes on paths overgrown with bracken (a detour when I thought I could find a better route ended in spectacular failure, a retracing off steps and persevering through the bracken); on reaching the western high point, east along the ridge path to the summit.Mariana Trench04/08/2019

Parked nearby and walked up in trainers after abandoning a bigger walk in the Brecons - windy but lovely views.atreides788721/12/2018
Mynydd y Glyn from Trehafod station, Cefn Eglwysilan from Treforest station, and Garth Hill and Craig yr Allt from Taffs Well station, all on the same day.Mark Jackson26/10/2018
Nearest safe parking I could find was at 1418 8523. Up the road and right, track from 1399 8511, narrow path at 1389 8512 leading to open hill. Splendid views all round especially over Caerphilly.Topographer5701/10/2018
Parked in the forestry commission car park. Walked up road and past the pub. Down the road then up the road to the stables. Not a bad walk but hard going in the heat.elizyanne15/07/2018
5/7 Marilyn day. Headed west along minor roads and tracks from the car park by the snack bar at ST 155 853. Returned via Caerphilly Common. All interesting new territory for me. 6km in 1h30m. (S)silveracorn_alan09/05/2018

Walked up en route from Cardiff to Caerphilly, coming in off the Taff Trail. Slightly muddy ascent, but great views.kasharic7903/02/2018
From Taff's Well station, Garth Hill first, then back to the river and across the footbridge towards Craig yr Allt. Various roads and footpaths through housing estates, then across the lower variant of the Taff trail onto a muddy footpath heading up the hill, crossing the upper Taff trail, then zig-zagging on improving paths to the ridge, which gives a pleasant stroll. Back to the station, then on to Trehafod station for Mynydd y Glyn. A nice walk, shame about the noise from the A470.Gill19/01/2018

Set off from Caerphilly mountain snack bar car park, headed to the Caerphilly mountain trig point first then followed the ridge path to Craig Yr Allt summit. Absolutely gorgeous view and great family photos with wife and toddler.Wackywelshy13/08/2017
Circular walk down through Fforest-fawr, up the Taff Trail and up over the top on the Ridgeway. Ascent quite overgrown but path still visible.Arbie30/09/2016
From East, took lane up towards the riding stables. Plenty of no parking signs but no one around. Craig Yr Allt is one of the better Marilyns in the region with superb 360 degree views.stig_nest16/09/2016
Dad's Birthday walk with Grandad. Walked from the Black Cock Inn, bit of rock climbing at the top.mills198301/09/2016
Parked 100m from equestrian centre gate, no one objected, 136848, 2/3 spaces. Walked back to right of way at 140851, turn sharp north up a trod just as the row splits. Takes you to the bracken free summit ridge. Overcast, hot, calm and good views.iangalbraith04/07/2016

Parked in a large drive entrance at the east end of the hill and walked up another drive towards the equestrian center. At a second gate followed the ridgeway path to the summit. Easy ticking. Finding a parking spot that won't upset the locals was the hard part.mindlessflogger11/03/2016
Difficult to find a start point. Seems to be more no parking signs than footpath signsmntainman11/01/2016

Quick up and back from area with no parking signs nr the stables.jenx19/11/2015
With Jenx, parked briefly in the lane to stables and quick 10 mins up to top. Seems the footpaths are showing signs of horse usage and deterioration although not up on summit where trails lead to top. Mists finally clearing to reveal Caerphilly in all its delights.nordicstar19/11/2015
Just room to park one car at ST 140851. Only 10 minutes to the summit. Too misty and drizzly to see anything when I was there for SOTA!G4OBK (Phil)14/08/2015

Parked near road going up to riding stables, then followed FP and up onto ridge to top. Good views all round.PeterD02/08/2015
Not the easiest to find as OS map out of date for road structure. Went from Graig at the stables through an overgrown path but easy after that. With GB.bolton14/07/2015
