Staying at High House, Seathwaithe on an Ochils Mountaineering Club trip. We headed up to Glaramara first, into the mist, then along ridge toward Scafell Pike. By the time we got to Lincomb Tarns the mist had burned off and it was blue skies with light wind thereafter. We went over Allen Crags, Great End, Ill Crag and Broad Crag. Finishing on Scafell Pike and returned via the corridor route, 09:55hrs. We started off as a group of six, but Nicky & Linda turned off before Allen Crags (Linda hadn't been hillwalking in a while), Sharon decided to include Sca Fell as well, while Michael, Simon and I (cowardly) returned to High House.chillyman824/09/2022

My last English 3,000+ft summit. Came from Old Dungeon Ghyll and bagged Great End and Ill Crag. After this I headed to Esk Pike and Bowfell having done Scafell Pike 4 weeks previously. After a morning of clag, the wind died at the top for half and hour allowing the warmth of the sun making it a good place to stop for some lunch.NorthernWayfarer09/07/2017

Leeds University Outdoor Activities Course at Dale Head, Duddon. Leading and teaching sixthformers with Chris McAllistair. After camping at Wasdale Head. In spite of my trying to get people up at 07:30, departure was not until 10:00. We walked by the direct path from Wasdale Head to Brown Tongue. At the top of Brown Tongue we bore right for the path to Mickledore, for lunch. Our group started on Broad Stand but I decided it was an unjustifiable risk with such companions, in such conditions, so retreated. We followed the well worn path to Scafell Pike and to Esk Hause, Esk Pike, Ore Gap. Then we followed the path – rather faint, to Lingcove and hence to Dale Head. Mist.pwbellarby31/03/1961
