Solo walk from Honister Slate Mine - Grey Knotts - Brandreth - Base Brown - Green Gable - Great Gable - KIRK FELL - Horrible direct descent from Great Gable via scree/boulder field to Beck Head Tarn, not recommended! Probably better to descend via NW ridge to Beck HeadNutty17/09/2017
Started at Wasdale Head and up the steep (but uncomplicated) path. Great views on top, Sca Fell Pike was visible for the first time this week and the Isle of Man. Down to Beck Head and down the path back to Wasdale Head. I've now completed every Nuttall in the Lake District (except Pillar Rock).tsharp14/09/2017

Done on the way to the summit from ascent of the col between Kirkfell and Gable. Ascent had been up from Wasdale. Hot. A little later I managed to Photograph a military bomber flying low just over this fell top.Aimless Rambler09/07/2013
I returned to the stony summit of Green Gable which I did not recognise despite having climbed it twice before. Of all the walkers I passed, I must have been alone in not attempting Great Gable today. It looked vast and almost unconquerable as I skirted its northern slopes to arrive at Beck Head, the col between Great Gable and Kirk Fell. Looking upwards, I knew I would not have found the descent from Great Gable to Beck Head pleasant. The ascent of Kirk Fell via Rib End looked almost as difficult but I was on the summit plateau within a quarter of an hour. The alternative routes up Kirk Fell are via Black Sail Pass (some exposure) or direct from Wasdale Pass (grassy but unforgivingly steep), and I had chosen the best one.peter4lc03/06/2013
What can I say about this. Tough ascent from Wasdale head, and very tricky descent to Black Sail Pass in the snow.Flipperfeet09/02/2013
