A wonderful walk along the interesting ridge between Grasmere and Great Langdale, locating the many Synges between Red Bank and Blea Rigg from High Close (NY 336 052), just space for a couple of cars – if you are early! Summits visited included Silver How, Lang How, Swinescar Pike, Little Castle How, Great Castle How, Castle How (Raw Pike), Blea Rigg and Whitegill Crag. A splendid day with snow patches and classic views of the major Lakeland peaks clad in snow! 15.6km with 800m ascent in 5h30m. (S)silveracorn_alan07/12/2020

Woke up late for this one (07:07) so upo quick to get the traditional Maccies breakfast and off we headed to Grasmere. Parking in the village centre and heading down Easedale Road for Sour milk Ghyll. Lovely walk to the waterfalls down and along the river. After weeks of heavy rainfall the waterfalls were looking amazing Bec was in her element walking up past the falls before reaching the absolutley stunning Easdale Tarn. It was like being on a different planet. From here though is were is got hard and plans B and C where going to be needed. From the tarn the plan should have been to cross the beck to then head straight up tarn crags but because of the rainfall the normally easy stepping stones were under a foot of water. So we changed plan and lost Silver how and decided to go up Blea rigg around to Codale tarn and up to tarn crags. So off we went. It was very boggy and quite hard graft. Stopping for a hot chocolate just before the summit. At the top when another problem arose! Which Scotty 2 Hotty08/12/2018
