It was an early start from Glenridding. I parked for £3 in the Sports field and headed up the lane, before turning left to the path up to Birks. There were still Bluebells out and the views down to Ullswater were superb as there was a thin layer of mist in the valley. It was a slog to the summit of Birks before it became easier to St Sunday Crag. Nice to have it to myself on this summit and the views were stunning. I descended to Deepdale Hause and cut around Grisedale Tarn to the steep climb to Seat Sandal. The views West were great in the soft rather misty light all the main peaks were a dark silhouette against the milky sky. I headed north and straight up the wall to the cairn at the edge of the cliffs on Dollywaggon Pike. It was then an easy walk over Nethermost Pike and on to the summit of Helvellyn where I had 5 minutes on my own. I continued along Striding Edge which was much easier than I imagined with no difficulties to the summit of High Spying How.isabelle01/06/2018

From Patterdale - Striding Edge and Swirral Edge. Foggy, wet, drizzle, windy, lots of people, and slippy. Someone fell and died while we were there and we were following mountain rescue on the edge. We also passed the two mountain bikers who were later injured. A day saddened by tragic accident.NorthernWayfarer27/08/2017

Exhilarating scramble over striding edge to reach the top of Helvellyn. Perfect conditions in the sun with a slight breeze but not too windy to be of concern! One of my favourites with the rock climbing element, descending via swirral edge.AmyYoung24/05/2017
With Jim Catchpole, who is bagging the Historic County Tops. Up from Dunmail and down to Swirls. Sunny with great visibility, but too windy to hang around long at the top. First time up here since move to Cumbria a couple of years ago.Hillsidenick08/05/2017

Parked in Glenridding, Sheffield Pike, Green Side, Hart Side, Stybarrow Dodd, Raise, White Side, Lower Man, Helvellyn, Swiral Edge, Catsye Cam. Original plan was to walk Sheffield Pike to Hart Side, but the weather and going was good, so decided on an impromptu trip to Helvellyn, with good views apart from Catstye Cam.Fell_wanderer19/04/2017
