From Mardale Head, Rough Crag, High Street, Thornthwaite Crag, Stony Cove Pike, Hartsop Dodd and down to Hartsop. In the clag and rain almost from the outset - only a view of Brothers Water on the descent from Hartsop Dodd. Slushy snow on High Street. With Gillian. Many thanks to Harriet for the drop off at Mardale and the wet pickup from Hartsop.richard6902/01/2024

Part of an unethical bagging day. Such a fine ridge walk merits a wholehearted traverse rather than the summit beeline I took.Pete Pozman22/11/2021
Arrived early for parking at Haweswater end NY469107, The Rigg, Rough Crag, High Street, Rampsgill Head, High Raise, Raven How, Red Crag, Raven How, Low Raise, Castle Crag, back up and over Lady’s Seat to get an easy grassy descent down Band End until steep bracken near bottom hiding ankle wrecker holes, The Rigg, Wood Howe (water level low enough to walk out), parking.Isbjorn29/09/2021
Early start to get parked up at Mardale Head car park. The reservoir is completely dried up at this end. People are walking along the old road and can get onto the islands north of The Rigg. Anyway, I love walking up this ridge and should do it more often. Round 2 of Birketts. Solo.Dangerous Dave22/09/2021
Started and finished at the Haweswater head carpark and took an anti-clockwise circuit around the surrounding tops to reduce the impact of the strong gusting wind - Rough Crag, High Street, Mardale Ill Bell, Lingmell End, Harter Fell, Little Harter Fell, Adam Seat, Branstree, High Howes, Selside Pike and Brown Howe; returning via the Old Corpse Road. Great walk, superb views, good terrain, just under 5 hours with lots of stops for waterproofs on and off.summitter13/08/2021

Rough Crag to Selside Pike from Haweswater. A lovely climb with light scrambling up from Mardale Head on a rare sunny day for this summer. Perfect conditions: warm, sunny, a bit of cloud and superb visibility. Would perhaps do this in descent in future to fully enjoy the views eastwards.Jake99424/08/2020

Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick, High Street, Rough Crag, Harter Fell, Kentmere Pike. Parked the car at the village hall in Kentmere village (£3 voluntary donation). Up Garnburn Pass and then on to Yoke, Ill Bell and Froswick. Only saw one person till I got on to main path up to High Street. Riggindale Crag was slow going but not a scramble. After dropping down to Blea Water, the climb up to Harter Fell via Small Water was hard work but since there was someone in front of me carrying their bike up (who I never caught up with) I couldn't complain. Excellent shelter at Nan Bield Pass. At the top of Harter Fell I met Cary and we walked down to Kentmere and gave him a lift to the YHA at Troutbeck where he'd started the day (he wouldn't have been home before 8 otherwise).tsharp03/05/2016

NUTTALL 170. SPENT MAY 2012 IN LAKES CAMPED AT BRAITHWAITE TO DO ALL NUTTALLS NOT ALREADY DONE AS WAINWRIGHTS. GOOD WEATHER THROUGHOUT. ON 3RD DAY OF BAKING HOT SPELL WE PICKED OFF 3 AWKWARD NON-WIANWRIGHT NUTTALLS TO FINISH THE FAR EASTERN FELLS. FROM MARDALE HEAD WENT UP THE GATESCARTH PASS AND ON TO BRANSTREE TO DO BRANSTREE N.E. TOP, THEN RIGHT OUT AND BACK TO HARROP PIKE AND DOWN TO THE GATESCARTH PASS AGAIN. AFTER LUNCH IT WAS OVER HARTER FELL, MARDALE ILL BELL AND HIGH STREET TO DO ROUGH CRAG, THEN BACK DOWN TO MARDALE HEAD VIA BLEA WATER. GREAT VIEWS. 3 NEW NUTTALLS.BURGESS22/05/2012
