Parked at Church Bridge below Troutbeck, then straight up to Sour Howes, north along the ridge to Sallows, and back down to Church Bridge along the Garburn Road. Then up the other side through Troutbeck and along Nanny Lane to Wansfell Pike - busy. North along the ridge to both summits at Baystones. Continued north down to the A592, then across tough ground to Troutbeck Tongue, before dropping steeply down into the valley and back to Troutbeck. All the ground is saturated - especially the section from Wansfell to Troutbeck Tongue! 22km with nearly 1200m ascent, taking me 8 hours, just in the daylight throughout!silverwolf_alan01/01/2024

Another gorgeous sunny morning after a sharp overnight freeze - bogs mostly frozen and ice around. with L up from Troutbeck. Along the ridge to Wansfell Pike - 25 people crowded on summit at 11am on a sparking Saturday . We passed another 57 (!) on our Nanny Lane descent back for lunch. My 11th ascent.Chris Pearson25/11/2023

3pm solo ascent after the rain stopped and having just arrived back at Troutbeck for 4 days. For a change I carried along Nanny lane to the end where a waterlogged path led up to Baystones. Dry and breezy under grey skies for a gentle jog along the switchback ridge to Wansfell Pike. 8 days until the OMM in N Wales so sort of tapering. Jogged down a new route for me -the lovely Jenkin Wood path with glimmering views over Windermere as a shy sun came out and back around to Troutbeck with wet feet in my fell shoes but dry otherwise.Chris Pearson19/10/2023
From YHA Windermere, up road then Nanny Lane to Baystones/Wansfell then along ridge to Wansfell Pike, down towards nanny Lane then NT permissive path to join Hundreds Road then Robin Lane & road back to YHA, some Sun, dry & cold breeze across tops..apricorum17/10/2023
From Troutbeck Bridge: Sour Howes, Sallows, Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick, Troutbeck Tongue, then a rather rough and tiresome fight across to Baystones before dropping back to Troutbeck. 21km, 5h 50. Stunningly clear and cold.Rockdoctor15/10/2023

Family wainwright with all the Lilly's including Rupert, Bassett's, Chris, Nathan and Rachel. Parked up Troutbeck and walked over Nanny Lane up to Baystones - very wet and cloudy, particularly on top. G,D&R went back down to their car, and we continued on top Wansfell pike. The weather cleared and we got some decent views over Windermere. Dropped down into Ambleside, had a quick dip under Stockgill force before heading to the Inn for a pint and chippies.ByronHaywood01/08/2023

My 8th ascent but 17 years since I was last up here when fixated for several years trying to piece together a self-created 24 marilyn run in 24 hours. Since then marilyn status has gone down to a Hump and there has been an attempt to unravel the summit location muddle. The original quoted summit location based on the 487m spot height is apparently 486.1m and looks lower the nearby true summit S of the wall. Both identified & visited today. Up boggily once off Nanny Lane from Toutbeck with L where we are house-sitiing for 5 days. Boggy bumpy ridge path (lots of recent rain) to Wansfell Pike (diverting to the P20 top on the way). Views of The Langdales where I'll be doing the OMM this time next week -slow and warm this year due to both D & I recovering from various ills.Chris Pearson22/10/2022

Today's plan was just to do Wansfell. We started from close to the church, headed up to the Wainwright top of Wansfell, over to the tourist spot for Wansfell, down towards Ambleside and back to the car via Jenkins Cragg. Considering it is October it was very busy. Plus it chucked it down on the tourist top so we didn't get proper views from there.JThorn08/10/2022

Bit of a pull up from Ambleside with Jim, Cat & Jus on a day of high winds and brutal squally showers. Did all three summits on the ridge - surprisingly everyone else was returning after Wansfell, clearly not realising the Wainwright (and the more pleasant summit) was actually here at Baystones.wheresthepath01/10/2022

6 mile circular from parking area near Troutbeck church. We followed the minor road, then Robin Track around the edge then ascended on Hundreds Road up to Wansfell Pike's Summit. We followed the lumpy sometimes boggy ridge along to Wansfell Baystones top, then along path joining Nanny Lane Track back into village then field paths across to church. 450m ascent. Perfect conditions with wide reaching views of all the big mountains. Very surprisingly they were all out of the cloud. Quite a few people about especially on Wansfell Pike.DanTrig15/09/2022

After a Saturday spent taking Jack round old Trafford for doing well at School and Lily an Myla to the IWM we deserved a day in the lake. Setting off at 6am with Myla in tow we headed to Ambleside. Unable to park at my normal spot at the church near the unicorn we parked at the main carpark and walked through town. At the salutation took the small Stockghyll lane at towards the waterfalls of Stockghyll force. Amazing place. From there went through the turn gate and onto Wansfell. Steepish slog to the top of Wansfell Pike and hit with breath-taking views of Windermere, Ambleside and the central fells. From there we followed the crest of the ridge for 1 mile to get to the true wainwright summit of Baystones Seeing Red Screes and the far eastern fells in all their glory. Route down we just retraced our steps through the now crowds on the popular view point of Wansfell Pike. Myla had a well-earned Ice cream on the way back through Ambleside before we headed home for an unplanned sesh in tScotty 2 Hotty25/03/2018

Parked up in Ambleside and walked up past Stock Ghyll. Quite a bit of snow on the route, three or four feet in places. The snow on the path was quite compacted by all the footfall and so it was better and easier to tread the softer snow. Always amazed to see how poorly some people prepare to walk in these conditions. Sumitted the low top and was hit by a very cold and lazy wind; it went through me and not around! Headed off to the true summitt and back for a very enjoyable walk.jcb170526/03/2013
