Followed the WH route starting at the bridge near Alltchaorunn. The hydro works have made a right mess, made worse in the soggy conditions. Burns were low enough for easy crossings and the steep ascent of the hill was made easier by the soft snow melting the day before on the steep3st sections. 10km 4h | Rockdoctor | 25/03/2024 |
From Alltchorunn with Wooly. Walked up the newly created line of the hydro pipe to the hydro dam, on up Allt Coire Ghuibhasssan and up to the col between summit and Clach Leathach. Descent via SW shoulder . | John Lee | 27/10/2023 |

FRom Stob Dubh. Descended into Coire Dubh-mor, not bad at all, then a descending NE line through easy long grass to a path above Allt a'Chaorainn. The footbridge marked on the OS 1:25,000 at 195496 does not exist. Crossed with some awkwardness but no real difficulty, wouldn't fancy it after rain. Almost immediately over the next water course, much easier. Up to a path on the SE side of Allt a'Chaorainn, then the path up Coire Ghiubhasan. Over the stream without difficulty, then up the steep but grassy SW shoulder. From the summit retraced steps to Allt a'Chaorainn then through the eyesore construction area and back along the construction track to Alltchaorunn. A tough but rewarding outing. | Owen B | 22/08/2022 |
Parked in deep layby - room for four cars in lines of two (one behind the other). Walked via cottage - no issues but do have to walk right past windows (think unoccupied) and have to climb unstable deer gate out of property (climbed fence on return so as not to break gate). Huge hydro scheme going on in the area - helpful as river dammed/diverted/something and was easily able to clamber over pipe to cross river by confluence (NN 1995 5000) Probably not possible during working week. Scheme due to finish by Xmas 2022 - asked if site area to become a CP - NO! Private. Second river crossing easy but then hadn't rained for a week. | carole engel | 13/08/2022 |
Short of time as driving home so opted for the NE ridge. From the bridge, with gaiters managed dry feet over the river then angled, very steeply in places, up to the ridge then easy and pleasant going to the top Don't think the cairn is quite on the top but a point some 50 metres to the N/NE but did both. On way down opted to drop off the east side rather than the west, much easier going though longer. Unlike the way out I got wet feet. Also, at some stage in he day (perhaps around the tent before I put my overtrousers and gaiters on, I picked up a tick on my calf. | dickscroop | 07/06/2022 |

Enjoyed Chasgaig on a day of grey turning to sun in a cold wind. Complex hill. Seemed natural to walk to col to N to ascend and descend down broad and steepening ridge to SE to cross river. No Bridge. Continued over Stob Dubh which was an even larger and complex hill for a Corbett. Met Graham and Coleitir. | davechaffey | 26/03/2022 |

With Creise and Meall a’Bhuiridh from Glen Etive. Amazing day – inversion at sea and over Rannoch, but clear skies otherwise. So hot had to walk in long johns (when nobody else was around!). Dribs and drabs of snow, hard frozen. | Rounsfell | 18/12/2021 |

Second attempt on McChasni after last year, in very wet conditions, we had to bail in water up to our baws.
This time, after a few dry weeks, no such issues - with John & Harrison we crossed a very low Allt Coire Ghiubhasan four times - each way at the bottom, below the bridge of death, once at the top above the bigger water fall, on the way up to the bealach between Creise and McChasni, and once after the steep descent down from Coire Aiteil. Weather was warm and very humid, with no wind - so the midges were ever present the second we stopped - even on the summit. Worse than the midges however, were the clegs/horseflies. I was bitten around 10 times (mostly through my baselayer) - they were everywhere!

However, great views from the summit and a good laugh with the boys made this another good wee morning on the hills. Under 4.5 hours in total. | mproudfoot | 10/07/2021 |

Ascended from Alltchaorunn via Allt Coire Ghiubhasan valley and steeply up to the col. Didn’t fancy descending the ascent route so opted for dropping down the NNE ridge to the River Etive - river looked crossable when looked at from car earlier in day. Was only up to my knees, so boots got wet for walk back along road but really nice circular walk. Solo. | assynt_bob | 12/07/2020 |

With GHC on a blustery afternoon. Usual route. I thinks I lost my glasses half way up, or was it on the summit? Struggled to return by the same river crossing as the water had risen in the April showers. | Play2End | 20/04/2018 |

Being allergic to thrashing up steep, blank hillsides, I eschewed the Alltchaorunn route in favour of the rather nice NE ridge. The slight downside was that the Etive was a bit higher than it looked from the banks...but well worth getting soggy feet. | Gill | 05/04/2017 |
From Glen Etive. Traversed base of Buachaille Etive Mor; ascended via Coire na Tullaich; visited Stob Dearg; traversed to Stob na Broige; retraced steps to low point in ridge at NN192527 and descended SE to road being careful not to get trapped between gullies formed by burns. Ascended Beinn Mhic Chasgaig (Marilyn 1100!) from Allt Coire Ghiubhasan gaining west ridge. Descended back to Glen Etive via NE ridge. With a friend from the start of the track to Alltchaorunn. We followed the track, continuing on a path, and then climbed the steep NW ridge of Aonach Mòr NW Top to reach the summit. We continued to the two tops of Aonach Mòr, of very nearly equal height. We found a way down and up to Creag a' Bhealaich and continued northwards to Bealach Fuar-Chathaidh and Clach Leathad, followed by the deleted Munro Top of Màm Coire Easain and then Creise. The final summit was Beinn Mhic Chasgaig. A good day with interesting ground to navigate through. | pwbellarby | 12/06/2009 |
