Added to Black Hill trip - a long walk on wild moorland. Indistinct summit.BaggerGutt19/09/2023
From Swinhope Head. ATV tracks to Westernhope Moor. Plastic netting for a further 400m, then rough ground alongside fence.PGCE26/01/2023
Success at 2nd attempt previously failed because i was wearing winter walking gear when a pair of speedos might have been a better choice.colinfielding27/07/2022
From Swinhope Head, took in Black Hill then followed fence to summit and Continued on to Outberry Plain then returned back. Weather good, blue sky but windy, visibility good, ground slightly boggy.matty1971b30/05/2021
With Sue and NB from carpark, followed wall then fence to Black Hill, Westernhope Moor, and Outberry Plain not as bad as described some new quad track in some places. Had all seasons with a biting cold wind.Frank04/05/2021
Can up from Bollihope Carrs followed the fence line. Very boggy and if you go along to Trig point that is a bit damaged.2510chris19/02/2021
Black Hill, Westernhope Moor, and Outberry Plain from high point on very minor road. A bit of a big trot, particularly on from Westernhope. Not very inspiring! With B and R.jenx22/11/2020
Parked in the Bollihope valley. Circuit of Carrs Top, Outberry Plain, Harnisha Hill and Catterick. Dry conditions underfoot.Gary Heath17/05/2020
With Joe from Swinhope Head. Black Hill, James's Hill and Outberry Plain. Descent via Westernhope Burn and old mine and quarry tracks, down old conveyer to our second car.John Lee22/01/2020
From Westernhope Moor. More about the challenge than the scenery. Back to Swinhope Head. 2 hours.Wycombe Wanderer18/01/2020
From cattle grid at Swinhope Head: Black Hill -> Westernhope Moor -> Outberry Plain. Then retraced steps back to car before attacking hills on other side of the road. Rough ground from Westernhope to Outberry, mainly peat hags, worse on other side of road though.jonglew02/09/2019
From cattle grid on minor road to west. Out and back to Black Hill,Westernhope Moor and Outberry Plain. The walk from Westernhope to Outberry was terrible. In and out and over peat hacs ditches and bogs.mart079708/08/2019

Parked at Swinhope Head then bagged Black Hill, Westernhope Moor and a soggy Outberry Plain.Dugswell212/05/2018
Onto this one from Westernhope Moor through the bogs and peat hags to a non-descript summit but with some great views when its a clear day, I guessmadaddo29/09/2017
Out and back from Westernhope Moor to a very non descript summit.Alan Caine25/06/2017

Parked at the top of the pass at Swinhope Head with GB. Over Black Hill and Westernmore to Outberry. The bird murderers wooden enhanced track from the summit of Westermore is useful for a few hundred yards before following the fence to the summit. Not as bad underfoot as we thought.bolton25/09/2015
Parking area by cattle grid at Swinhope Head 898332 Followed fence to Black Hill & Westernhope Moor E. along wooden trackway & then NE alongside fence to unmarked summit. (PM)gerrybowes25/09/2015
From disused mine to south. Left track at c.550m to avoid heather. Easy grass until heathery moorland (not that boggy) is reached for the the last 1/2 mile.mae04/05/2015
Slog along the fence from Westernhope Moor and back. Not a lot of fun - would be dire after a spell of wet weather.Crib Goch03/09/2014
Nuttall Route. Chapelfell Top, Fendrith Hill, Black Hill, Westernhope Moor, Outberry Plain. The cairn is clearly not the summit, and to be honest I can't understand why anyone would put one in such an unauspicious spot. Follow the fence until you are sure you are going downhill again then return as being the only way to be certain you hit the top as there's no way to know exactly where it is.ijpowell20/06/2014
From Swinhope Head, out and back over Black Hill, Westernhope Moor and Outberry Plain.rhalstead19/04/2014
From Black Hill then Westernhope, easy for 300m along wooden planking then a tiring section of peat hags, with the return journey to look forward to... Summit is small cairn on insignificant grassy knoll, but looks higher about 20m further on, near the fence. Or indeed on the other side of the fence to the S.Aye Jimmy05/07/2013
Fifth 'summit' of the day at 10.45am. First 0.45km from Westernhope is easy thanks to the grouse-feeder's jeep track but then the peat hags start. Easiest route is by the fence! Not the most memorable top of the day!signyred24/08/2011
Bollihope round-deep snow all the way.peebs04/03/2010

With Jo, circular walk from Swinhopehead House: across fell to Cockrans Cabin, Chapelfell Top, then along ridge to Fendrith Hill, Doras Seat , Swinhope Head continuing onto Black Hill, Westernhope Moor and Outberry Plain, then returning back along ridge to SH, then down road to start. Weather, sunny, warm breeze, very good visibility.amblerbob11/09/2007
No idea as to the actual date, but completed this one as part of my walk along the Weardale watershed.moorsman09/09/1999
Calm, cold, foggy. Would have been boggy if the bogs weren't frozen.Grass layby at Swinhope Head, Westernhope Moor, Outberry, Swinhope Head, Dora's seat, Fendrith Hill, Chapelfell Top, Cockran's Cabin, Swinhope Bridge, Swinhope Head.joseph mitchell13/02/1999
out and back with nine standards rigg for completenessRhayader_wander03/05/1998
From Swinhope Head road top, also Black Hill and Outberry plain tops (Bridges)nordicstar16/01/1998
Solo. Heathery and / or boggy flat moorland requiring a determined effort for 5 Bridge tops. Grouse beating and shooting not far away (just past the 'glorious' 12th). Just pleased I had'nt brought any friends here - and now we walk back.Chris Pearson16/08/1997
