Second crack at getting to the top of this hill. Previously, I'd tried to nab it with a direct approach up the side to the trig, only to run out of time if I wanted to get to an appointment on time, so had to turn back about 250m from the trig. Got redemption today, quite a slog up the eastern flank again, albeit more gradual than last time. No views today, cold wet and cloudy.simocity09/12/2023
Repeat ascent. Hp other side of wall to trig. Low cloud.Denise 01/10/2023
Parked at Hodge Bridge. Walked through the village taking the FP by the church. Castle Knott then Calf Top out and back. SoloDan Baddeley19/08/2023
Second ascent. Parked outside Barbon church. FP across to Eskholme. ATV track to Castle Knott then onto Calf Top. Returned back the same way for a pint in the Barbon Inn.PeteF05/08/2023

North on path from 682864 then wall towards gate and finally a stile onto the ridge then SW to summit. All easy going.dickscroop21/06/2022
Went up steeply from Barbondale from the bridge over Barkin beck. Path intermittent higher up until a large cairn at about 480m on the main path over Castle Knott and Calf Top. Good clear green track up, down and up to the summit. Excellent views all round. Good clear weather. Did a few geocaches whilst up here. Good fun despite the knee-ruining descent back to the car.robphys19/06/2022
Walk from Abbot Holme across Holme Fell and Holme Knott to meet track/footpath and in south-east over Brown Knott, Long Bank, Green Maws to Calf Top. Return via the same route.raymooremanx28/05/2022
Just room for a small car parked close in on the Eskholme road after the bridge over the old railway. An enjoyable and fairly evenly-graded ascent along the ridge to Castle Knott, visiting its WNW top and Calf Top, where the summit cairn is on the other side of the fence from the attractively decorated trig point.Nick Down105/05/2022
From Barbon on a sunny Easter Saturday: Castle Knott, Calf Top and Holme Knott. Took very quite minor road from Middleton Hall Bridge. Had first outdoor pub lunch of the year outside the Barbon Inn at the end of the day.Lazylizzie16/04/2022

Traverse of the Calf Top ridge, visiting Castle Knott, Calf Top, Brown Knott and Holme Knott during Day 15 of our Dales Circular Walk, today from Barbon to Sedbergh. A distance of 18km with 950m ascent in just under 6 hours. With Annette, Christine, Eric, Geoff and Steve.silveracorn_alan10/02/2022
Parked SD 6794 8616. Walked NE along road to public footpath, left through gate SD 6831 8645. Followed to SD 6820 8694. Turned up hill to gate SD 6817 8713. Followed vehicle tracks zig zagging steeply up grassy slopes to reach a formidable wall at SD 6743 8708. Turned Left (SW) to follow wall to corner of the field where thankfully there was a stone stile over the wall SD 6737 8690. Now it was a simple and easy walk SW on a rough path to the summit and the Trig point. If you cross the low fence at the summit you can use the broken wall for shelter if needed (very much so on my visit!).geralddavison03/02/2022

Via Fellside up the track. A nice hill.PhilipChaston30/08/2021
Due to a lack of time parked at the cattle grid and climbed up the very steep fell side. Summit just below the cloud base so limited views. Visited trig and summit cairn. Time taken 51 minutes for 1.88 miles. Saw nobody else just Meadow Pipits, Wheatear and Stonechats. Didn’t do it justice will return to give it the respect it deserves.isabelle22/08/2021

Parked in Barbon at SD 62859 82500 - plenty of space. Took the lanes around to Eskholme, then steeply up to Eskholme Pike. Then followed a grassy track up to the cairned summit of Castle Knott and on to Calf Top. Returned the same way to Eskholme Pike, then over a high stile to pick up the RoW through Barbon Park back to the village. Solo. 12.5km, with 695m of ascent.Man of Kernow121/04/2021
Parked opposite the church in Barbon, then ROW to Eskholme, through gate onto the Open Access Land and followed the ATV track all the way to Calf Top. Returned the same way, except for a steeper path from Eskholme Pike to ladder stile into the parkland at SD 6356 8315. A lovely still winter's day.milimana22/12/2020

From Barbon via Castle Knott. Descent via Mill House. Mill House is not a PROW for about 50m. Owner came and spoke to us, but was pleasant and let us pass. Extremely clear, so vast views of fells and even Blackpool Tower.Nick Caunt03/08/2020

Castle Knott and Calf Top from Barbon. Climbed the usual route from Eskholme then a steep descent to BarbondaleGary Heath22/07/2020
Parked at Hodge Bridge, just west of Barbon. Up across Castle nut back down over Middleton Fell to Millhouse, where there is a very grumpy sign saying that there is no footpath and that walkers should consult their map to find the correct way of the Hill. This suggests that the the access land does not quite reach the footpath.Clive G11/07/2020

KD Ridge walk up from Barbon that did for both of my father's walking boots and almost did for him too, as I needed to help him down due to injury.crazy16/06/2019
