Hugged stock fence from Baxton Fell and carried on to Cross of Greet. Three towers at the top are relics from the construction and alignment of the Haweswater viaduct.Vulcan29/02/2024
Up the fenceline to the trig. Windy, rainy and boggy.PhilipChaston23/12/2023
From Cross of Greet, with AT, JT and BL. Followed the fence-line SW then south up to the summit. Then onwards down to the col and up the broad NW ridge of Baxton Fell to its top. Return by outward route over the top of White Hill again. 12.2km, with 375m of ascent.Man of Kernow115/04/2023
From a pull in parking area at a cattle grid near the Cross of Greet. Following the fence to reach the summit and returning the same way, Three mile in roughly an hour and a half.WAYNE ROWLETT07/04/2023
Train to Bentham, taxi to Cross of Greet, walk up slight very boggy path by fence. Return to road and up Hailshowers Fell opposite. Then north along boggy ridge to Burn Moor which was hard going. However things improved after Burn Moor with a decent track back to the road and ten walk back to stationtrimarc224/02/2023
From Cross of Greet, following the quad tracks to the summit. Boggy... great atmospherics at dusk on the summit made up for wet feet.geralddavison14/01/2022
White Hill and Ward's Stone from Wyresdale.tomd412/09/2021
fine views over forest of bowlandrichardrosser11/08/2021
From Cross of Greet to the NE. I mentioned to my companion that it looked like someone else had been up here recently and I see from the logs that is indeed true - missed you by a day Paul. A remote spot that's for sure.Father Ted11/08/2021
From the Cross of Greet. Followed the fence, stepping over it a couple of times to avoid the wettest areas. A Wheatear flew ahead of me for a while up the fence line, showing me the way.paulhilder10/08/2021
MC JC O. From the high point on the road. Missed the path on the way up but followed on way down. In future, follow fence to left. Follow all the way to top.Martin6608/07/2021
From road summit at Cross of Greet, followed tracks to top along side fence. Went to Trig and tower.PeterD02/07/2021
Plan was a circuit from Trough of Bowland road summit to Whins Brow, Wolfhole Crag, White Hill, Middle Knoll, Baxton Fell and back over Whins Brow to start. Followed trod to N of fence from cattle grid, and near kissing gate to S of fence realised I should omit Whins Brow on the way out so cut N to path by border fence to Wolfhole Crag and on to White Hill (regretting short cut from Boston Crag to summit, a bit S of TP). Crossed to path to Whitendale and uncycleable bridle path towards Brennand Farm. Tired old legs elected to pass Midddle Knoll, and map reading revealed that POI for Baxton Fell SE of Whins Brow (at Clader Moor) was not at a summit, so I went direct to Whins Brow, up from farm but through a gate and following fence to NW of Brennand Stones direct to summit. S of fence down, crossing at aforementioned kissing gate to return to cattle grid.henryfm28/06/2021
Pleasant, airy walk along the fence line from Cross of Greet. Highest point appears to be around 673589 on fence running NNW from just N of trig point.Nick Down128/06/2021
Jubilee Tower - Grit Fell - Ward's Stone - Wolfhole Crag - White Hill - Cross of Greet. With JH, AB, PW.Mark Jackson19/06/2021
Easy ascent following good path from the passconanharrod04/06/2021
As others suggest, good parking at Cross of Greet Bridge then follow the track to grouse butts where it fades away. After that, in cloud, the bog, while fairly dry, made it hard going and difficult to keep a good line of direction. Visited the tower and trig. Cloud lifted as I was coming down, opening some fine views and making the effort all the more worth while.Pete West03/06/2021
From park to SE. Misty. Trip with Stu from Leeds.davechaffey02/02/2021
36km walk from home duew to lockdown.atreides788708/11/2020
From Cross of Greet Bridge. On ascent I left the track early over Snout Berry Hill then followed a fence NW to the top. Boggy sections so better to make full use of the track.squeegs24/09/2020

Parked on verge at SD69249 54800 then mountain biked up road to SD66762 57449. Bouldered on the Cowstones with Mart then followed fence to summit and visited tower. Superb views and met a friendly shooting party on route. A superb trip.John Eley14/08/2020
Parked at Cross Greet Bridge, along estate track till it faded away. Great views of Dales round to Morecambe Bay.CJM21/07/2020
Parked at the top of the mountain road at Cross of Greet and followed soggy route along the fence to the summit trig. 5km in 1 hour there and back.silveracorn_alan07/06/2020
steady trudge through boggy ground. Interesting tower near trip point.gettingonabit07/06/2020
From cross of Greet. Remarked to chaps sunbathing at top that it felt like cheating starting so high up - but it’s still a bit of a slog, especially with the mid afternoon sun. Ground mostly dry with the odd squelchy bit. After the first gate ots probably easier to have the fence on your right on the ascent. Sat in a patch of shade under the middle tower for a bit- just to try to cool down. Super spot really, looks like very few venture up here though. Last Bowland Marilyn having done fair snape a few hours earlier.stig_nest28/05/2020
1/3 - first summit on lengthy walk from Cross of Greet to take in all three Dewey Summits - fine and dry underfoot. Took a little longer than expected - it's quite a long onewychwood25/05/2020
From Cross of Greet bridge. 2 hours round trip. A great feeling of remoteness up there.NormanW24/11/2019
Parked on Rivington Road in layby then followed path to summit. Very sludgy today and poor views due to weather. Definitely need to return in better conditions as there is a lot more to explore in this area.ironwolf06/11/2019
From road pass, up faint and wet path under a fence that leads up bleak moorland to summit.Topographer5711/09/2019

After camping down the Croasdale me and Bethany climbed a few boulders at cow stones, and used this hike to warm up a little. Pretty boggy and marshy on top with no proper path. Brilliant views to Yorkshire dales, Morecampe bay and Pendle.ByronHaywood21/07/2019
Followed a good path before it petered out. Stick to the fence line. No views, claggy.Play2End18/07/2019

Parked on road to north east 682 609 by cattle grid. Followed fence to top. There a better track to west of fence. After heavy rain was surprised that going was reasonably dry. A very dull hill!Deedubr22/09/2018

From Cross of Greet bridge in midst of 2018 heatwave - underfoot was dry! Followed the track to south of Far Costy Clough to point 513, then via tower and trig to Cross of Greet. Continued via Great Harlow and down wall to road 300m se of cattle grid. Great views of 3 peaks.Clive G14/07/2018
Circular route from Slaidburn via Bridge of Greet, returning on track on opposite sideButeobuteo07/07/2018
Walked on my own from Cross of Greet Bridge. Glorious sunshine with a welcome breeze. The final approach to this summit when the path ends is hard work. There are a lot of peat bogs which were dry today but still quite hard to negotiate. The views from the summit are worth the effort though and the onward route is fine.flockwatcher01/07/2018
Solo. Parking area by Cross of Greet. Then bog and tussock following the fence to trig pt & nearby tower. 86 mins.ADT05/04/2018
1/4 Marilyn Day. White Hill from Greet Bridge. 7.5km with 330m ascent in 2 hours. (S)silveracorn_alan25/03/2018
High wind and lashing rain, so just a quick up and down from the top of the pass.ijpowell23/03/2018
Parked at cattle grid near Cross of Greet remains on the old county border of Yorkshire West Riding and Lancashire, did however find a more suitable parking area 15m north of grid on right. Followed fence 1.5 miles from road all the way to trig pillar and summit, joined by Gina. Still boggy despite being partially frozen and ankle deep snow. Must be much worse when temp above 0°C.mntainman18/01/2018
