An ATV track from the Old Shielings about half a km along the path from the A93 car park leads steadily up between the main summit and its South Top, allowing a quick bag of the latter and a sweat avoiding walk up to the former. Hags and heather most of the way, but summit plateau is short and soft underfoot.summitter02/08/2020
Parked at Auchallater. Round of 7 Simms: Carn Dubh, Creag an Loch, Meall an t-Slugain, Creag Loisgte, Creag nan Leachda, Millstone Cairn, Carn nan Sgliat.PGCE25/07/2020

No snow on hill, despite some good sking on neighbouring hills. Went up south slope. Quite windy at summit. The only snow crossed was a bridge which collapesed with my weight making for damp legs. Yetis saved the day. The rocky cairn i believe is the summit but in poor visiblity the whole area is of approx same height and is very flat.cjo08/03/2020

Solo. From car parking area at NO147800 up path towards Carn an Tuirc. Near burn junction at N0158803 struck up hillside over short heather, grass and moss to reach summit of Carn Dubh. Cairn and knoll SW do appear to be of similar height. There is another cairn roughly SE from summit cairn, but this is lower. Continued to Carn an Tuirc, Cairn of Claise and Sròn na Gaoithe.pwbellarby14/10/2015

Cairn (NO 16186 81947, 820m). SW summit, green knoll (NO 16054 81798, 821m) appears very similar in height. RHW25/09/2011
