From Moel Penamnen - A very straightforward continuation of route following a clear path. No issues. A rocky rib about 50m from the fence is a good place to stop for lunch. Top is by fence. Continued to Y Ro Wen. One very short steep section to descend but nothing too tricky. With Dan. | stig_nest | 10/02/2024 |
Parked near Gwyndy- newydd to north and then up through forest to steep east slope of hill. Then on to Manod Mawr to complete Cardigan Bay watershed Tumps. | Campbell Singer | 15/10/2023 |

Parked in the small area 73636 50692 on the Roman road leading south from Dolwyddelan and headed due south to the head of the valley first on forest roads and then on the footpath through a deforested area to reach a high point of around 500 meters then followed a trod up to Foel fras, (from what I saw it might be possible to also add Y Ro Wen to this route if chosen too) Five and a quarter mile in Two and half hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 18/09/2022 |
From Crimea Pass layby straight up to Moel Farlwyd and along to Moel Penamnen and Foel Fras and back. Low cloud and steady rain for the whole trip. Others went to zip world as a drier option. | richard69 | 06/06/2022 |

A splendid walk along a mainly grassy ridge from the car park at Crimea Pass on a very warm September day, visiting Moel Farlwyd, Moel Penamnen, Foel-fras and Y Ro Wen. Then return along the ridge, cutting below the summits on the south side to the Crimea Pass. Followed by a quick up and down of Moel Dyrnogydd. 18.5km with 810m ascent in 6 hours. From Crimea Pass. Moel Farlwyd, Moel Penamnen, Foel-fras, returned below Moel Penamnen (under the crags) then across A470 to climb Moel Dyrnogydd. Nice day with excellent views | RobertP | 06/09/2020 |
Moel Farlwyd, Moel Penamnem & Foel Fras from Crimea Pass with Rufus. 7am start, took a few minutes to find the stile, I won’t give any more details to save you some fun! Out and back basically following the NP boundary on the OS map, cutting across a fence and gully above Llynau Barlwyd and traversing under the summit of Moel Penamnem on the return. Better terrain than I expected and a fast round trip of just under 2 hours. | jacobrichmond | 31/08/2020 |

1.6 mile hike from Manod Mawr North Top. Took direct route across heather/grass moorland rather than following fence. A bit boggy with a coupe of good sizes hags and groughs to be negotiated round. Plumped for summit near think post on slight bend in fence though wandered around area to east in case 3 or 4 small grassy hillocks were higher. Also raised area to west looked higher from fence but looking back probably not. Went over that ground to Moel Penamnen anyway. | mntainman | 11/10/2016 |
Continuation from Moel Penamnen. A bagger's path goes from Moel Penamnen, making this an easy ascent. Traversed below Foel-fras, Moel Penamnen and Moel Farlwyd back to the car park at the Crimea Pass. | Sprog | 09/10/2016 |
Dolwyddelan Station car park (738522) - Forest roadway & then excellent track to Y Ro Wen - Followed fence line to edge of forest & then faint boggy path above edge of forest to fence post/small rock summit - N. for about 300m & then steep descent into Cwm Penamnen. (S) | gerrybowes | 24/08/2016 |

Solo. Wet and very windy. From Moel Penamnen. With worse weather due in shortly I followed the boundary fence to the track south of Llyn Bowydd and then went down. Storm Gutrude had arrived. Half a day of bog-trotting done. (it is very hard for the wind to blow you off course when you are hanging onto the fence to get round the bogs. The things we do for fun!) | Aimless Rambler | 28/01/2016 |
added to Nuttall wlk 5.4, dry bright day, summit on fence. | Lou | 07/09/2014 |
Parked on the main road just above Llechwedd were the path starts. Lost path after a while as GPS acting up which made for a bog slog. | destaylor | 15/04/2014 |
From Blaenau Ffestiniog, a round of Manod Bach, Manod Mawr, NT, Foel-fras, Moel Penamnen, Moel Farlwyd and Moel Dyrnogydd. | rhalstead | 21/03/2014 |
Walk from Dolwyddelan to Blaenau. Very boggy walk from Y Ro Wen then the cloud had the audacity to come down. Lost the path a bit but trudged around the highest ground before heading over to Moel Penamnen. | Jake994 | 02/01/2014 |
Clockwise circular round from Blaenau Ffestiniog. Garreg Ddu - Moel Farlwyd - Moel Penamnen - Foel Fras - Manod Mawr North Top - Manod Mawr - Manod Bach. The extremely large building in Maen-offeren Quarries is well worth a peek inside. It's like an industrial museum. The descent off Manod Mawr to the northern tip of Llyn y Manod is fairly ghastly! | David Gradwell | 11/08/2013 |

In mist until coming off Moel Penamnen getting round in 4 hrs 35 min. Navigation was very strange and Google Earth revealed the extent to which the quarry has grown since the maps were surveyed. Good day - shame about the weather. Anti-clockwise circuit. | SS | 10/10/2010 |
Parked at GR 732 493. Walked to end of track then up through gap in trees then steeply up open grassland to summit. Continued to Ro-wen. With SH/RO. | wombourne | 13/07/2010 |
