Surprisingly scenic walk from Carreg a Big. The BBC got it wrong again (said cloud, was sunshine) and the hills of south Snowdonia were resplendent in the morning light. On to east top.Wycombe Wanderer12/10/2023
A round of 4 fells from parking near Bwlch y Groes. Very soft underfoot made for some hard going in parts. Mist cleared during the walk.Alan Caine07/10/2023
From the cattle grid SH917.228. Mainly following fences. Bryn Glas - M Coch East - M Coch West- Carreg y Big- car.Moorponder04/07/2023

Parked near the cattle grid below Bwich y Groes, then followed the fence line to Bryn Glas, the cairn at Carreg y Big, then east to the trig on Mynydd Coch East Top, and finally to the HuMP of Mynydd Coch West Top. By sticking to the fence line there was a nice little track for most of the way, making the going pleasant during a sunny morning. A nice half day excursion of 11.5km with 400m ascent lasting 3h 30m.silveracorn_alan06/08/2022

Parked at Bwlch y Groes and walked down the road to the cattle grid to follow the fence over to Bryn Glas, Moel Llygoed and Mynydd Coch. Three and three quarter hours for just over seven and half mile.WAYNE ROWLETT19/06/2021
HP at fenceline in boggy tussocky terrain. desolate views under grey skies. On to Mynydd Coch trig.Denise 13/05/2021
From the N on what felt a long walk along the fence line. Vague unmarked summit of grass/moss/bilberry/ lingonberry on fence line.RichardM13/05/2021
From Carreg y Big. I then followed others advice and went north to the fence before following it to the east summit of Mynydd Coch. Solo.bolton14/04/2021

Ambitious day to get this and three other Dodds with just six hours between buses from Llanuwchllyn. Lots and lots of running needed but somehow did make it down in time with only seconds to spare. Pretty cream-crackered now :).Alex C12/05/2018

Bryn Glas, Carreg y Big, Moel Llygoed and Mynydd Coch East Top from cattle grid at SH91690 22879 following fences. The fence to Mynydd Coch East Top is as the OS map and is not the one just before (north) Carreg y Big. Fairly slow going and pathless in parts. 3h45, 6.89m.clivevilla06/09/2017
Parked at the cattle grid at SH91690 22879 and then followed the fence, crossing it to reach Bryn Glas and then more following the fence to reach a cross fence on the left after the obvious cairn on the sharp pointed top. Turned left and followed fence to trig on Mynydd Coch ET. Return back to main fence and then Moel Llygoed. Return was back to Bryn Glas missing out Mynydd Coch. Didn't cross the fence to the top. Back to car. Followed fence all the way so it would be easy in bad weather. Ground wet and very wet in places. Traversed on the fence at one point to avoid the bog.MikeM17/06/2017
Up grass path by Pen-y-gelli to elbow then followed fence line to elbow then broad ridge to Moel Llygoed. Followed ridge then took fence line out and back to Mynydd Coch East Top (real baggers hill) before going on to Bryn Glas, Returned by fence again then out to Foel y Bryn and an excellent track down to the road.SS22/04/2017
Parked by cattle grid at 917229 - Followed faint (sometimes non-existent) path/ATV track along fence line to Moel Llygoed, bagging Bryn Glas & Carreg y Big along the way - On way back followed fence line out to Mynydd Coch East Top; occasional ATV track, but generally pathless. From Llanymawddwy via Pen-y-gelli and Ty-uchaf - up via the pleasant green path but back down the W ridge.Chris Peart07/09/2016
From Llanymawddwy car park via Pen y Geli. Mistakenly put the alarm on for 03.30 instead of 04.30. Avoided the Welshpool rush hour!Campbell Singer16/03/2016
Parked cattle grid to north. Bryn Mawr, Mynydd Goch (direct route bit of a slog but still think probably beats long ridge route) Moel Llygoed, Carreg y Big, Bryn Glas.ijpowell14/07/2015
Enjoyed the path from Pen y Gelli, delightfully unused and green. It finishes at the head of the cwm, a mile to the south of the summitColin Crawford11/03/2015
From Llanymawddwy at SH 90284 19004. Bwo Coed Cochion and farm road past Cwm Cerddin.Alan Moore16/08/2014
Pleasant walk along lane from tel box/chapel at Llanymawddwy car park, up on lovely green tracks unspoilt by 4WD, motor bikes, etc to its end and a mile by wire fence to the cross fence and follow to the top.arranc11/04/2014
Parked at 974214 before completing a circular walk of Bryn Mawr, Bryn Glas, Carreg y Big, Moel Llygoed, Mynydd Coch East Top and Mynydd St John. The ground was a little damp in places but access was straightforward. Descending due north from the last summit I came across a gate into the forest that wasn't marked on the map.JohnStoneham10/11/2013
from Llanymawddwy via Llanerchfydaf, Tir Rhiwog, Drum Ddu, Foel Lluestbadlon. followed fence from South - tough going - visited cairn en route. pt 598 is less worthy than either the two tops further north.stig_nest10/08/2013
Couldn't find MR path on way up or down. Zig zagged over mainly grass and some heather and bracken. Would have to have been a big dog to be heard at the summit as was a little windy.destaylor30/11/2011
Parked in little car park in Llanymawddwy where there is a barking dog that can be heard from the summit. Great path via Pen-y-gelli farm goes almost all the way to the summit - which is surprisingly nondescript.Martin R31/08/2011
Start ~ 913233. Done on a traverse between Bwlch y groes and the A458 at Nant-y-dugoed. Normal Mid Wales heather and bog!steve hudson14/04/2010
