From Sawmill (staying at Bridge of Gaur Guesthouse). Biked in 11km then locked up bikes and hiked to Cottage. From Cottage ascended Sron Bealach Beithe and on to Ben Alder. Views, still and calm on top and mild. Beautiful. With GNash, trimarc2 and GFEFionalevey05/08/2023
Biked 11k from sawmill then on foot with Fiona. Also GE and GN who ran to and from sawmill. Superb day and a fine way to acknowledge my little grandson Alder English.trimarc205/08/2023

Parked at the underpass at south end of dam. Bike to just past Culra then around Coire na Lethchois to Ben Alder, Sron Bealach Beithe, Sron Coire na h-Iolaire and Beinn Bheoil. Sadly no views above 800m despite 70% chance of cloud-free Munros.TRG31818/05/2023
Started at Loch Ossian so a long day. Along Uisge Labhair which was very pleasant and then a tough trek uphill through heather to get to Bealach Cumhann. Up the steep slopes of Ben Alder and down to Beallach Breabag. Decided I would do the second Munro so over Sron Coire na h-loaire and on to Beinn Bheoil. The views were incredible down on Loch Ericht and back across to Ben Alder whose slopes shimmered in the light. Back the same way to Bealach Cumhann. The bothy at Alder Bay looked very tempting but pressed on along the well-constructed path back to Bealach Cumhann and then retraced my steps home.tsharp17/05/2023

Ben Alder and Beinn Bheòil from Dalwhinnie with Harrison, John and Johhny. Sketchy ride into/out from Culra due to ice on the track, and we couldn't find a good spot to cross the Allt a'Bhealaich Bheithe (fairly heavy flow and ice-covered rocks) we opted to just head up to Bealach Breabag and hit Ben Alder from that side, then back down and up Beinn Bheòil - John and Johhny headed back down to Culra after Ben Alder, while Harrison and I continued on with Beinn Bheòil via Sron Coire na h-Iolaire. It was getting dark by the time Harrison and I returned to the bikes, and the ice on the stretch back up to the road was even worse than the morning, so we ended up walking out on that stretch - cycled back to Dalwhinnie from there, by head torch (and my bike's front light) but had to take it slow due to frequent ice patches. Total time ended up being 9h 48min. Tiring day out, but glad to get these done!mproudfoot18/12/2021

Three fantastic days in the Ben Alder forest (wilderness), bagging three Munros (that’s now 120 out of 282) and two Munro Tops. 05/08/20: I cycled in from Dalwhinnie along the north side of Loch Ericht past Loch Pattack to Culra Bothy, where I met Alec McBride. 06/08/20: Me and Alex followed the WalkHighlands route info for Ben Alder, but couldn’t find somewhere suitable to cross (for me to be confident enough to cross) the Allt a’ Bhealaich Bheithe, so we hiked up to the saddle and approach the 1st Munro from the south. The views from Ben Alder (1148m) were stunning south and west across Rannoch Moor. This was followed by the Munro Top of Sron Coire na h-lolaire (956m) then the second day’s Munro of Beinn Bheoil (1019m). Dry all day with some mist blocking the views of Ben Nevis, in all other directions bright blue skies, 09:30hrs all in. Alex hiked out after this, I stayed another night in the Culra Bothy. 07/08/20: I headed up Carn Dearg (1034m) directly from Culra Bothy, thankfuchillyman806/08/2020

Good biking from Dalwhinnie along Loch Ericht to NN 551 786. Track around Loch Pattack very rough with plank and cable FB to negotiate - not good for bike. Grass track from NN 551 786 SW along Allt a'Chaoil-reidhe to Culra bothy, OK for competent biker.carole engel29/09/2019

From a camp in Uisge Labhair crossed the river easily where it splits into two at approx 465724, ascended the rough western flank to cross the plateau to the summit. Rain mist and snow on top so went back the same way. Climbed with Richard from Dalwhinnie. Walked into Culra bothy, ditched kit, climbed Beinn Bheoil then Ben Alder, walked back to Bothy. Total 15.25 hours!! Was difficult finding the summit of Ben Alder due to poor visibility and the walk back from Beinn Alder was 'murderous' due to deep slushy snow and several necessary river crossings/diversions due to overflowing rivers. Poor visibility but no wind.amcculloch16/02/2013
268th - Allan - walk in along Loch Ericht from Dalwhinnie. Good snow cover from 900m, dry with moderate winds but visibility reduced during day to 10m on Ben Alder summit. Incredibly long day at 15hr 8min, snow cover of streams made walk out to Culra bothy tricky.RGibbs16/02/2013

With friends. From level crossing at Dalwhinnie. Due to misunderstanding I did not bring my bicycle as the others did. So there was some alternation of cycling and walking to near Culra Bothy. We walked up the excellent stalkers' path to the outfall of Loch a' Bhealaich Bheithe. We crossed the outfall and went up the Short Leachas. This provides a nice scramble, quite steep up a ridge coming down eastwards from a minor top. We crossed the almost level plateau to reach the summit of Ben Alder. After a previous failed try from the S with Martin66, a more determined solo attempt on Alder/Bheoil succeeded from Rannoch. Used trainers on track as far as 1st bridge at S end of Loch Ericht. Changed into boots & on to Ben Alder Cottage for quick breather then up to Bealach Breabag. Sron Bealach Beithe & Alder first then back to the col & over Sron Coire na h-Iolaire to Bheoil. Back to the bealach & back by the route of ascent. The extra weight of the trainers was definitely worth it for comfort in the walks in & out. I descended and walked out to the Grampian Hotel, Dalwhinnie, for lunch. There was no rain on Saturday evening but it did rain during night. It was very misty above 500m with sunny towards midday.pwbellarby23/06/1985
From M a T S. Slooshed face and arms in stream. Steeply by ever smaller streams and snow patches to a small cornice on edge of plateau.
