5 summit circuit from Colva church (space for 2 cars). Llanfihangel Hill, Little Hill, Glascwm Hill, Black Hill, Yr Allt.PGCE22/01/2021
From Hill Castle (the road summit E of Glascwm), the most direct and short ascent. It was such a fine day, with all the Old Red Sandstone mts S clear, that I walked along the broad ridge to another path running below the ridge from which the views over Glascwm were lovely. Good tracks and easy moorland to get on the HP (and dry!) made for a quick 65 min walk for the 3 miles.pwheeler05/09/2020
A good walk through the quiet hills above Glascwm (saw no other walker all day) from the summit of the road at SO 165534 visiting Little Hill (east one), Gwaunceste Hill, Llanfihangel Hill, Yr Allt (west one), Newchurch Hill, Bryngwyn Hill, Red Hill and Glascwm hill. Mostly fast progress on good tracks through the heather moors, but beware the totally overgrown and nettle infested bridleway down from Yr Allt to the road before Newchurch Hill. 31km with 1100m ascent in 8 hours. Expansive upland walk from SO146490 (lane between Edw valley and Painscastle). To 522m spot height of Glascwm Hill, over Red Hill on the outward journey. Very easy tracks. Weather dull but fair, good visibility, tops of Beacons under cloud at times.Hillad25/07/2020
from col glascwm and black hill then out and back to red hill good landrover tracks most of wayunderhill03/07/2020

From the Pwll Brwynog col moorland track to within 200m of high point. Short walk through heather/ grass/ bilberry stems to unmarked high point. Extensive views.RichardM22/03/2020
1/4 for day on anticlockwise route from old YHA in Glascwm, high point in heather moor. Nearby Black Hill looked more impressive than this.richardrosser10/03/2020
From the col at SO 166534 - good tracks through the heather & a straightforward summit. Spent rather too long looking for the 'few stones' with out success, but certainly in the right place. Did Black Hill too.DanMaisieBex23/12/2019
Circular walk from SO145489 to bag Red Hill and Glascwm HillRamblingpaul12/05/2019

I set off from Glascwm on a rather murky cool winters day. After doing a 5k race in Builth Wells I wanted a cool down walk in these little visited hill. My first objective was the higher Little Hill. A Red Kite was quartering overhead on its long wings. I then headed over to Gwaunceste Hill on route I met a large party heading the opposite way. As I reached the summit trig the cloud lifted to give views all be it limited. There was a few tiny patches of snow close to the summit. It was hard to see but Radnor Forest looked to have had a covering. I descended in sunshine to the other Little Hill. On the latter I put up 5 Red Grouse. I headed down to the minor road and climbed steeply to the unmarked summit of Glascwm Hill. From the summit I headed down to the village in the gathering twilight. Time taken 3 hours 15 minutes for 8.25 miles. Other wildlife a Buzzard, Coal Tits and Blue Tits.isabelle20/01/2019
Third of four Dewey's from Hundred House on a twenty two mile walk taking between seven and eight hours. Route was Gwaunceste hill, Llanfihangel hill, Glascwm hill and Red hill. A long walk best for a dry day.WAYNE ROWLETT02/09/2018

Parked on verge at high point of road to N. at 166534. Up well-used ATV track to within 140yd of the unmarked summit; the few summit stones are probably now deep under the heather! (S)gerrybowes04/10/2017
From road summit above Glascwm, Glascwm Hill and Red Hill on good tracks most of the way.rhalstead18/02/2017
Parked at a cattle grid on minor road to NE. Good path for a fair way up then over heather and bilberry. Took in Black Hill before descending.jonglew15/06/2016

Surprisingly nice circular walk, parked at top of pass east of Glascwm, walked down through the village and up onto Little Hill (West one), then followed moors onto Gwaunceste Hill and across to Colva Hill, followed lanes to near Colva Church then went out and back to Yr Allt, then carried onto Black Hill, Glascwm Hill and up and back onto Little Hill (East one) back to car, nice and sunny day, didn't see anyone all day.DanTrig28/10/2015
From A481 near Rhewey farm up track and a little burnt heather to trig of Gwaunceste Hill then on to pass above Glascwm and up track and more burnt heather to Glascwm Hill. Return by same route on a perfect walking day.SS04/05/2015

There is indeed a small pile of stones at the summit but it is lower in height than the surrounding heather so don't rely on it a s a navigation aid.clivevilla30/11/2012

Park at top of narrow road at junction of farm tracks. Up hill on tracks through gorse to open moor. solitary grouse. final 400 m across burnt heather to top at 12.40. No cairn.arranc06/08/2012
Heather & bilberry grouse moor. Parked at Rhulen Church at SO 13733 49816 and took green byway to bwlch below Red Hill. Then by tracks nearly all way to summit. Returned via Red Hill.Man of Kernow120/05/2012
Isn't a SSSI and a grouse moor = oxymoron? The usual patchy heather moor you get with grouse slaughtering sites.Martin R25/08/2011
parked at road to the north west. this is an sssi site and a grouse moor. got told by the local keeper to keep the dog close as grouse eggs were hatching.DARRENG25/05/2011
Safe packing to NW, then easy tracks to near summit which is now marked by small pile of stones. Grey cloudy morning with rain showers likely.Dugswell217/05/2011

Easy walk up from the N on eroded track but for last 100m. Some care needed in mist else you could pick the wrong track down. Safe parking on roadside just west of isolated roadside farm. Summit largely featureless and current GR near enoughRhayader_wander03/01/2007
