Long day out from Ty/n Cornel hostel. Hill top pretty flat and getting well overgrown with stray young firs. Pillar the only feature to indicate a summit.richardrosser07/03/2023
Incidental bagging part of a bigger expedition. Esgair Gelli, Cefn y Cnwc, Mynydd Twyi (Pen y Maen North Top) Path closed for forestry operations, no work on SundayArbie21/08/2022
Revisit from ESE in passing, from pool. path W then ride NE, to miss windthrow. As I headed back down to the Phone Box, a convoy of 50 tractors was heading up! One with a Ukraine flag.RHW20/03/2022
Parked to SW by phone box at 762576. Circuit of Mynydd Tywi, Mynydd Tywi East Top and Cefn y Cnwc. Best way to Mynydd Tywi is to reach track junction to SE, then left and very soon take a path W. This leads up to a firebreak directly S of summit.PGCE10/08/2021
approached direct from east big mistake to many wind blown trees however ground to northeast appears higher suggest from south west would be easier trig point now hiding in trees then north west to llyn crugnantunderhill06/05/2021
Trig and nearby summit hiding between immature trees, accessed by slightly overgrown firebreak to S. Parked by post box at road to S then easy walk up forest track past aerial to forest track junction by pool, where we turned west. sunny.Denise 16/04/2021
Parked at the end of the farm access road by the telephone box and made good use of the forestry roads to quickly visit Mynydd Tywi East and North Tops, then Cefn y Cnwc on the way back. 10km with 290m ascent in 2h 30m. (S)silveracorn_alan28/07/2020
Third of five Dewey's on a 18 mile walk from parking at Llyn Berwyn taking seven hours. Route forest road to east of Gopa Uchaf then fire break to base of hill, dropped down far side to footpath after fording stream followed this to Garn Gron, continued on footpath/bridleway until I reached the road connecting to the cycle way north east, followed forest road past Llyn Du up fire break to Mynydd Tywi down other fire break headed east then up another fire break to reach the east top, returned to the forest road heading south to finally take in Cefn y Cnwc, continued heading south on forest road until phone box then headed west up road to car.WAYNE ROWLETT10/06/2018
From Cefn y Cnwc. Continued north into the forest on the track to some pools. Then took a narrower path east to its end, where a firebreak between the old and new planting leads north to the summit. Onwards to the east top. Solo.Man of Kernow103/06/2018
Parked by phone box at 762576. From the East Top, back down firebreak & W. to forest track junction – From junction, obvious path W. for about 320yd & then NE along wide firebreak to trig point & nearby summit; summit is located in amongst fallen trees. Returned to track junction & back down forest track to car. (S)gerrybowes11/11/2017
From the east top. Via forestry tracks and the firebreak marked on the 1:25000 map. Woodland cleared to south and west of the trig.Moorponder30/09/2017

Take the path west opposite where the track goes east off the main path. Then turn north up the ridge path which is fairly rough but much better than the way I went up which was bashing my way through the forest from the east.clivevilla30/08/2017
From telephone box up track nipping up Cefn y Cnwc on way to pools. Easy path to left then open ground to trig - no treebashing on way to Mynydd Tywi. Returned and up track to follow firebreak to summit of east top. Returned to car for next venture.SS29/04/2017
Walked up a close by forest track to the ridge where the view opened up, then along the top on a wide fire break to the TP.Neolith04/04/2017

Parked at phone box on mountain road. Wide vehicle track to pools. From there direct route to summit; easy at first, but progressively more difficult as felled conifers encountered - considered giving up on this but perseverence paid off and HO, with its attendant trig pillar, finally reached. Quite possibly an easier route avoiding the felling can be made from the pools, by taking vehicle track SW veering W.jonglew15/10/2015
Start ~ 762576, by Phonebox. Followed Forestry track then path to summit of Cafn y Cnwc. Continued North and got through felled forest to a good track an followed it west to firebreak to Mynydd Tywi East Top. Returned to track and took it to the pools where the path to Mynydd Tywi starts. Cloudy day, with Wombourne.steve hudson25/05/2015

Top at the trig point. The forest has been felled to the west and south west. Good views of Garn Gron.Rob Pen y Garn03/11/2012
Walked from SEDusty12/03/2011
Visited again 20/3/16. We found access direct from pools impossible due to wind blown trees, but then used track W from pools to ridge at 772604, and NE along ridge - much easier!AlanD22/08/2006
Tywi Forest Dewey bagging, walk 3/4; Mynydd Tywi and East Top from forest track 794573. Access summit from 775705: trig small clearing at ride junction approx at summit. RHW04/04/1998
