A walk in the Brecon Beacons which took in Carreg Cadno 538m, Fan Gyhirych 726m, Fan Nedd 663m, Yr Allt 605m, Fan Bwlch Chwyth 603m and Fan Fraith 668m. Not a great forecast but clear summits until Yr Allt which were the important ones, and only rain on the last one. Some great views and scenery. | meltdiceburg | 18/10/2023 |

6/6 Dewey day. Carreg Cadno from the large parking area next to the quarry at SN 855 155. East along the Beacons Way to far end of the fenced off SSI area. Then cross country of limestone outcrops to the summit scramble onto HP. Back the same way. Lovely sunny early evening to complete the day's Dewey round above Glyntawe. At top of minor road west of summit enter quarry area, round back of old railway station, and theres a humungous car park which is shown on my OS map as a disused quarry. Walk from there is easy. | ijpowell | 30/08/2019 |
From the car park at Penwyllt (SN 85479 15773). Took the track up to the caver's hut, then grassy track north-east to its highest point, diverting off it to scale to the top of the summit limestone pavement. A fine hill. With MP and AW. Onwards to Fan Gyhirych. | Man of Kernow1 | 27/07/2019 |
With Meg and Xan. Carreg Cadno, Fan Fraith and Fan Gyhirych from the disused station. Scrambled up the double escarpment onto limestone pavement and across fairly rough stuff to the top of Carreg Cadno. Then down to the quarry road which provided a simple but dull route up to the col separating Fan Fraith and Fan Gyhirych. We had celebratory Welsh cakes and jelly babies on the latter as this was my last Sim and N in south Wales. | Herbert Anchovy | 26/07/2019 |
