Walk in the Black Mountain range, paths not as clear as other parts of the Brecons, but that gives a bit more adventure! Mountain pass car park had plenty of spaces, and a good place to start a walk. | JazDisney | 26/06/2021 |
From mountain road CP, visited prominent cairns to west and north as well as central high ground as not obvious on the ground which was the highest. | richardrosser | 07/04/2021 |

6/6 Dewey day. From the car park at the summit of the A4069, visiting Garreg Lwyd enroute to Foel Fraith, then on to Garreg Las. Then returning around the top of the steep slope above Blaen y Cylchau, before heading north to Cefn y Cylchau. The return to the A4069 roughly followed the Beacons Way. Then a quick up and down Carn-Pen-rhiw-ddu from the car park. 16.6km with 560m ascent in just over 4 hours. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 22/07/2020 |

Used car park near summit of A4069. Climbed SE to summit of Garreg Lwyd with 2 trigs (one demolished) and huge cairn. Continued to Foel Fraith, col then along fine ridge with extensive slabs to Garreg Las and its two huge cairns. Returned to col and then traverse to flat summit of Cefn y Cylchau. 11 mile walk on easy grassy terrain from viewpoint on pass, walked down road to the bridge over the Afon Clydach, climbed up steep slopes to Cefn Y Cylchau, headed SE from summit hitting the only bog patch in the area and picked a route up through rocks onto Garreg Las and along ridge to summit, descended to Carreg Yr Ogof trig, then back over Garreg Las and along Beacons way over Foel Friath and Garreg Lwyd down to pass and up to Carn Pen-Rhiw-Ddu, back down to car. From large car park at 732187. However, there's a good track heading up from the small car park at 730183; this avoids the old quarry workings. (PM CM) | gerrybowes | 25/01/2017 |

Gareg Lwyd was my last Nuttall in the Brecon Beacons. Yay! Parked at the summit of the A4069 and an easyy and short climb up to the summit. Weather was excellent and the views were good, although the Bristol Channel itself was a bit foggy/cloudy. On the Foel Fraith and then took the bridleway North to Neuadd Fach and then the track to Llwyn-yr-hebog, Ty-newydd and joined the A4069 at Pencaegarw farm. This track was pretty wet, even on a dry sunny day. Up on the main road with a quick deviation up Carn Pen-rhiw-ddu. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1225675644?share_unique_id=2 | tsharp | 23/06/2016 |
