Steeply up from track to north. Damaged trig is outside aerial enclosures. Tussocky lumpy ground. Hard to say where HP is but probably trig. Lots of wind farms in view. Continued west.Denise 18/02/2024
From the comms mast access track. Summit is levelish rough grass plateau with remains of trig pillar at high point.RichardM18/02/2024

Blaengarw to Llangeinor. Very pleasant day; sunny, but quite chilly with a stiff wind on the tops. Didn't see any other walkers, but encountered about a dozen motorcyclists in twos & threes.Smudge25/02/2023

A revisit, this time from the south taking in the various Bronze Age cairns on a horseshoe walk from Llangeinor. Superb views from the damaged Carn-yr-Hyrddod on a beautiful sunny day. On to Mynydd Caerau via Bwlchgarw.thesweetcheat05/03/2022

4/7 Dewey day. From Blaengwynfi following the zig zag forest road to the mast, then further forest roads to Mynydd Ynyscrrwg, then around the head of Cwm Gwynfi using easy road past turbines before branching off to the right to the Mynydd Blaengwynfi trig just off the track on the right. Retracing the route back to the main forest road and south east to SS 918 962 from where the edge of the forest is followed to the broken trig of Twyn Crugyrafan. A slight descent to cross the A4107 at the summit then up access road to the masts at Werfa, behind which the summit trig hides. Then following small tracks over the grassy top of Werfa west down to the col, where the new wind farm road is joined up the hill before branching off to the trig at the summit of Mynydd Caerau. Finally back to the col and then easy traverse of the grassy pasture heading north along the bridleway until a really awkward and very steep descent without track has to be negotiated down into Abergwynfi, and then througsilveracorn_alan26/07/2020
Third of four Deweys Mynydd Baengwynfi, Twyn Crugyrafan, Werfa and Mynydd Caerau from the parking area in Blaengwynfi. Three and half hours for the Eight and half mile circular route.WAYNE ROWLETT22/03/2020
With E. Parked at wind farm entrance on A4107. Walked along track to fenced area around two telecomms masts. Negotiated around 20+ horses by the fence to trig point which is in a dilapidated state. Apart from the unmoving horses an easy bag!Beeliner16/07/2019

Parked on side of the A4107 and walked up the access track to the wind turbines and then onto the broken trig point. Lovely views of Red kites and a male Sparrowhawk. Beautiful day to be out exploring!Gerry the Ranger05/07/2018
Boxing Day so no wind farm traffic. Used wind farm road then crossed through gates and cattle grid onto radio masts track and up to trig in swampy moorland. Barbara and Jemma.Campbell Singer26/12/2017
Easier to take the radio mast track from the start although better parking at wind farm entrance.Barbara Singer26/12/2017
Great views on way up but then the mist descended.Jemma Singer26/12/2017
Parked just off main road at SS 9208 9513. Easy walk up mast access track. Went on to Werfa trig surface block, Daren Goch surface block, Nant-hir trig pillar and finally Carn yr Hyrdodd surface block before returning.jonglew03/01/2017
Parked at end of the road at Blaegwynfi and then followed footpath up into forest and then out onto hillside and up between Mynydd Caerau and Werfa. Onto Mynydd Caerau first then onward to Werfa before returning to Blaegwynfi on a lovely sunny morning.Dugswell221/10/2016
Up track to mast from the road and onto broken trig point, before heading to Mynydd Caerau. Good views across to Steep Holm, Somerset and Devon. Wind Farm development in full swing even on a Saturday.PeterD06/08/2016
Continuation from Twyn Crugyrafan. Followed an eroded path south to the A 4061, then easily up the aerial track past the enclosure to the summit. Onwards to Mynydd Caerau. Solo.Man of Kernow117/07/2016
The start of construction of another wind farm required parking a little to the east on the A4017. Straight forward up and back.Newton Maximus08/05/2016
Started in Upton Street, Blaegwynfi and followed track up into forest. Followed track to SS 89982 96953 and turned left. Again followed track. Quite a mess in places with bike tracks cutting the track up. Turned right at SS 89965 97370 and followed track to Mynydd Blaengwynfi. Reversed track for a short distance and then followed a series of paths and tracks to Twyn Crugyrafan. Descended to road and then up to top of Werfa. Crossed moor and climbed up to top of Mynydd Caerau. Steep at start of climb up. Walked across moors back to Blaengwynfi. Good walk. Mainly on tracks and paths but badly cut up in places by the boys on bikes.MikeM05/05/2016
Parked on the side of the A4107 at the end of the track to E of top. Simple stroll along a concrete road led to radio station, mangled trig and the top.Cas-gwent26/04/2016

Parked by the transmitter access road barrier – Along concrete access road to battered trig point. (PM)gerrybowes29/07/2015
From car park below pass out past masts and trig point and on down the scrambling track (with trail bikers) and up the bulldozed track before easy ground to the trig point on Mynydd Caerau. Returned same way with a quick visit to Twyn Crugyrafan before returning to the car.SS15/03/2015
From the road up to the mast along the concrete road. I find these hills rather depressing with the litter, the gratuitous conifer forests and the run down villages.clivevilla14/03/2015
6/9 Simple enough walk up to radio mast and to the right is lightning blasted trig pillarFergalh07/12/2014

Start ~ 926952, roadside parking. Done on a route over Werfa, on to Mynydd Caerau and returning along the track to Twyn Crugyrafan. Remains of trigs on all three summits. Wind and rain latterly, with Wombourne.steve hudson31/10/2013
Parked at side of road at GR 926952. Walked on track to mast station then across bog to summit. Continued to Mynydd Caerau then back to Twyn Crugyrafan. Remains of a trig point on all three tops. With SH.wombourne31/10/2013
Nice views.Adrian24/08/2013
Short easy jaunt from road, the fly-tippers have been stopped by a new gate, but the summit is still covered in old rubbish. Goes in at No. 2 in my Most Toxic Mountain League but still lags behind Cefn Yr Ystrad.dicky06/08/2013
Parked at barriers on access road to masts. Limited spaces as barriers now near road (to prevent dumping along the track, presumably). Still lots of rubbish by barriers, saw council van cleaning up laybys and verges on way back. Easy walk along track, trig seen better days - even the brass number plate has been removed by vandals, for scrap no doubt. Not convinced trig is the highest point, but top very flat so not sure matters that much. Not a great hill, but at least quiet.Hillsidenick26/07/2013
Final stop on a hot sunny solo walk from Treherbert station. Easy top to access up the concrete track, rather featureless apart from the masts and broken trig pillar. Horses showed too much interest in the visitor, so didn't linger long!thesweetcheat08/06/2013
Parked on grass just off road on corner at beginning of track. Most of rubbish gone.destaylor08/11/2012
