A quick bag from the gate.robertphillips10/09/2023
As others parked by gate. Track through rocks and along above them.chrisbien25/11/2022
Relatively pleasant walk, thanks to a path and some rock. From NW.Wycombe Wanderer28/08/2022
1 x verge parking opposite 8ft galvanised gate, just N of road HP (NY797513). Through gate, no track, only a faint FP up to band of rocks – go straight up through these to ATV track immediately on top of them – curls around easily, R, to trig. Intercepted by a line of beaters crossing my return leg – no aggro, was just asked to stay put for 5 minutes whilst their line worked through.Isbjorn12/08/2022
Beautiful early evening, several plovers as well as lapwings, curlews. Great views, very clear.Nick Canute28/05/2022
Short walk from high point on minor road. Brief snow shower.RobertP08/04/2022
From road to W. Verge parking next to gate at NY 797 510. A feint track goes just N of E straight to the crags, along the top of which there is another track that leads almost to the TP. Easier than tramping through the heather (which is how I went up).JohnR13/09/2021
Parked near a gate at NY 79711 51366 on the high road. Then gate onto the moor and up over the crags. Followed a path along the edge to a cairn, then east to the summit. Returned much the same way, but west of the crags. 1.7km, with 50m of ascent.Man of Kernow102/08/2021
4th Dodd of the day. Quickly up and down from verge parking. Quite windy.NormanW09/06/2021
5/5 Dewey Day. A medley of 5 Deweys on the north side of Weardale from nearby roads: Collier Law, Horseshoe Hill, Bolt’s Law, Dry Rigg, Brownley Hill. (S)silveracorn_alan17/05/2021
Roadside verge parking, E side road by a field gate (NY 7969 5101). Direct over heather moorland. On to Black Hill to N.jonglew04/05/2021
As WAYNE ROWLETT. Parking at 796510.PGCE08/12/2020
Parked on the grass verge by the gate down from a break in the crags, walked up a track onto the crags around to a cairn where then you can see the trig, returned the same way. Twenty five minutes for the one mile.WAYNE ROWLETT06/06/2020
Parked at cattle-grid to the west of hill on (Thornley Gate to Coalcleugh) minor roadRobB24/01/2020
4/4 from highpoint A686 - windy, dry - picked way across mOor by ROW (more evident on map than ground - skies cleared and temp dropped - got back along roadswychwood23/12/2019
Walked up past the chimneys and along the road to this one to make a decent walk out of it. Snow on the high ground today.Walker Dan17/12/2019
Solo on way back from Richmond, no cattle grid now. From road verge parking direct up through gate shortest distancenordicstar08/07/2019
From Haggs Bank campsite in Nentsberry over Wellhope Moor to Carrshield. Along road to gate near cattle grid and direct line to summit. Returned same way about 12 miles.dgresty22/06/2019

A quick late afternoon walk with my daughter (7) to bag what is probably Northumberland's easier Dewey. Parked near the cattle grid and then went up by the nearby gate in a more or less straight line to the top via the stone cairn (false summit). Sun was just setting as we came back down. Cold and windy.NorthernWayfarer26/12/2018
Solo. Easy walk over Access Land from Dryburn Bridge.Dangerous Dave19/11/2017
From roadside (as previous logs) up and down in trainers on a glorious cold day.SS12/11/2017
Parked on grass verge by the gate on W. side of minor road at NY 79762 50421 – Through the gate on the opposite side of road & then a short walk across sheep pasture & short heather to the summit rock (PM)gerrybowes18/07/2017
Parked close to a gate on the west side. A 20 minute walk with GB. Great views.bolton18/07/2017
Easy up from road to west.Alan Caine03/06/2017
KJF A quick visit from gate near the FP sign on the moor road. Dry conditions made this easy following a quad bike track up to the stone bank; along to the main cairn and then a narrow trod to the trig. The scruffy building by the tarn looks a bit like a shipwrecked boat.crazy31/05/2017
Approached from NW.ger01/11/2016
Roadside parking by gateway, easy access on rough tracks.rhalstead25/03/2016

Parked by the cattle grid past Carrshield. Decided to lengthen a short there and back walk . Dropped down to the River West Allen using PROWs and a minor road. Up the other side for a short distance and onto a minor road for a short distance to the right. Back to the original road using field paths and again crossing the stream and the road (one barbed wire fence. No style). Through a gate onto moor and up to top of Brownley Hill. Easy to find trig point but then it was clear. Back down to car. Pleasant but contrived.MikeM26/06/2015
Definitely NOT a hill to do in thick mist, without a GPS. Couldn't see any distance in front at all. Took 2 hours from the road, most of which was spent looking for the trig!moorsman18/09/2014
An easy climb from the road to the West, just a mile round trip including a visit to a small tarn near the summitFisky Boy04/05/2014

From road to west then headed south-east to Knockshield MoorCrib Goch11/11/2012
Allendale Town to Sinderhope. Pretty good going along the ridge from the chimneys over fairly trackless terrain until Isaac's Tea Trail, which was rather mucky.Smudge18/11/2011
Early Morning bag, fairly easy from road.Jhimmy19/03/2011
