Camped near the top of Longaford Tor before descending to Princetown from where I added South Hessary Tor while waiting for the bus. 41.5km, much of it boggy, tussocky, pathless toil in unrelenting rain and wind. This tor was climbed as part of an epic walk from Two bridges in the quest to explore Wistman's wood primarily. This area of Dartmoor has such a Western feel to it. I walked with my girlfriend (at the time) and her daughter and we saw some Dartmoor Ponies next to the rocks at Longaford Tor. WE walked as far as Brown's house, a ruin and then followed the West Dart river and eventually found Wistmans wood on the lower slopes. | Dazingdale | 14/03/2010 |
