Circuit, parking at corner W of Wanthwaite Bridge. Threlkeld Knotts, White Pike, Calfhow Pike, Little Dodd (fairly meaningless 'summit' with two cairns), Great Dodd, Randerside, Watson's Dodd. Descended via Castle Rock then returned via ridge of High Rigg. Wen Crag, High Rigg S Top, SE Top, and High Rigg.RobertP11/12/2023
Legburthwaite to Clough Head down via small but good path on west side of summit, across the steep screes. This is a great viewpoint!trimarc230/11/2023
P small layby immediately N of St John's turnoff, followed Birkett's route up through the quarry. Had to stop & wait for about 15 mins while some complex sheepdog manoeuvering went on, always impressive to watch. On up the Red Screes path to Clough Head.agentmancuso31/08/2023

A good walk on good paths over Threlkeld Knotts, Calfhow Pike and White Crag (a nice little summit, surprisingly only a Synge, not a Birkett). Back along the Coach RoadBURGESS04/07/2023
Parked just off the road at Grid 3165 2288.Walk down the road passed Hill Top farm and take the track up to the quarries. follow a faint path to a fence line and cross a stile, continue across the field to the wall and gate, once on the open fell head for Threlkeld knotts, then the steep path up to Clough Head. Descend to the rocky outcrop of White Pike before descending steeply and contouring the crags of Clough Head back to the main path at Threlkeld Knotts. From there follow the path back down the same way to the start.smocks and denims12/05/2022

Up wide track from farm to the west. Two guys from Fanfoss near Pocklington, east Yorkshire started and time, carrying paragliding equipping on their backs. Bear in mind it's late Nov and a light breeze, half way up, and striding down the track towards us was a middle aged guy naked rambler, boots, small rucksack but nowt else. W stopped and chatted for a bit. Aparently, recently there's been an upsurge of people doing this. Told him about my occasional visits to naturist beaches and clubs. Higher up, cut up slope south to this minor top.vegibagger23/11/2021

1/8 Used Birkett route up to Threlkeld Knotts and on to Clough Head (cracking route) then dropped down to White Pike, contoured right round to Calfhow Pike on good sheep trods, then passed Little Dodd to reach Great Dodd, and dropped down wet bridleway to Randerside and Matterdale Common, down to the Old Coach Road, and right to road at High Row, to pick up track into woods and summit Cockley Moor using the track right round the top of the hill (easy over cut trees), return to St Johns all the way on the Old Coach Road. Lovely route and Cumbrian hills 999 - 1002 for us!nickywood108/10/2020

1st hill of 18 on another epic day on Stage 2 of my improvised Bob Graham's round from Keswick to Grasmere. I took the road out of Keswick and visited Castlerigg stone circle en-route before taking thr minor road to St. John in the vale. A lovely stream crosses just over the road and i filled up my bottle here as it would be a while before i could refill it. I took a track and then circumnavigated part of a disused quarry before striking out on a bearing to intercept a footpaths climbing partway up the hill. I veered off the path when it started moving away and climbed to the grassy summit.Dazingdale07/06/2016
From layby at Wanthwaite junction, gravel track past Hill Top Farm, then stile into wood. Small paths through quarried area and wood to stile at top. Field, along fence, gate onto fellside. Delightful green track leads to lower cairned summit. Short way on then to proper summit. Continued to Clough Head.Aye Jimmy13/09/2015

Up Fisher's Wife's Rake. At the entrance to the gully there must be a buzzards nest as I was dive bombed by two aggitated buzzards as I approached. They make quite a whooshing noise as they pass over your head. I took a wide birth and took the gully on the right which was very steep. Once up I took in a couple of Birketts, Calfhow Pike and Little Dodd, then back to Clough Head. Located the path down through the crags to Threlkeld Knotts and back down to the car. Very pleasant stroll, light breeze, overcast but warm.Mark T15/06/2015
Small parking area alongside the gate almost on the road junction to the west. Then a short walk along the unmade up road before taking a stile on the right. Follow this track directly upwards through the quarry. After this, cross a stile then it's plain sailing to the summit .... if you can decide which one it is!moorsman04/03/2015
